Word today that Glenn Robinson the third is leaving U of M to enter the draft. At least, those are the reports, but I am also hearing that the coaching staff is hopeful that he will change his mind. Funny, because in most categories, he actually regressed from his freshman to sophomore season. Definitely seems like he could use another couple of years of college to be the best player he can be, but if someone drafts him in the first round, it doesn't really matter if he's ready for the NBA or not.
With Horford transferring and decisions pending for Staukas and McGary, Michigan is closely watching the transfer wire and looking at still available recruits for the class of 2014. I saw an article today that they had reached out a guard who they had not recruited previously. Michigan is by far the biggest program interested in the kid, and his coach said if Michigan offers, he would take it. Which is just how kids end up sitting the bench for two years and then transferring to where they should have gone in the first place.

Per zagsblog.com, Michigan landed Rahkman.
"**Michigan landed 6-4 combo guard Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman of Allentown (Pa.) Central Catholic, who scored more than 2,000 points in his high school career and averaged 23.6 as a senior.
“I just think the way [John] Beilein coaches and the way Michigan plays will be right for Muhammad,” Central Catholic coach Dennis Csensits told the Morning Call. “Muhammad is a throwback in that he’s just a guard. He’s not really a point guard and he’s not really a two guard; he’s just a guard. And if you watch Michigan play, they run a lot of two guard type stuff with guys with very similar skill sets to Muhammad.
“So when he started taking a look at Muhammad, I think [Beilein] saw someone who would be a good fit for how they play.”
Abdur-Rakhman joins shooting guard Austin Hatch, small forwards Kameron Chatman and D.J. Wilson and power forward Ricky Doyle in Beilein’s 2014 class."

Michigan's losing streak hits four with a loss to SMU. No shame in losing to a good team like the Mustangs, but this is where those losses to NJIT and EMU weight heavy on the schedule. scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400586741

Michigan had a disappointing 2014-15, with no post season appearance. That's not unexpected given the loss of players to the NBA and the injuries they suffered this season. Since the end of the season they picked up a commitment from Moritz Wagner a "combo forward" (there we go with those terms again) native of Germany. espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/basketball/mens/story/_/id/12623456/german-forward-moritz-wagner-commits-michigan-wolverinesThe Wolverines did get some bad news. Spike Albrecht has undergone hip surgery and may have another procedure later in the off season. From twitter: Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 14m14 minutes ago Michigan's Spike Albrecht has undergone hip surgery. May consider similar procedure on left hip later in offseason. Recovery is 4-5 month.

Michigan guard Caris Lavert is said to be "gathering information" on his draft prospects before deciding whether to enter the draft. He only played 18 games last year and didn't exactly set the world on fire when he did play, but that's today's game: It's not if you can play, if it's enough people think you can play. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/61810/caris-levert
