Michigan’s John Beilein expected to hire ex-Wright State head coach Billy Donlon and Oakland assistant Saddi Washington as his assistant coaches Donlon seems like a good fit with Coach JB. Michigan lost four players to transfer and replaced two coaches. Add in the new recruits they have coming in, and they're going to need name tags the first couple of weeks of practice.

Nice home and home for Michigan. If my schedule allows, I will definitely go to the game in Ann Arbor this year.

Michigan gets a commitment from 2017 guard Eli Brooks. He's a Pennsylvania kid who is currently unranked by the recruiting services. He reportedly had a big spring/summer. What's interesting is that he recently got an offer from Villanova, which he previously had called his "dream school." On one of the Michigan message boards (http://forum.umhoops.com/) the news has been met mostly with a "ho hum". Wolverine fans have been unhappy with Michigan's recruiting, especially after Michigan State pulled in this monster class in 2016. Also today, class of 2017 four star Xavier Tillman of Grand Rapids put out a final four of school options; Michigan State was on it, and Michigan wasn't. Coach Beilein has had some great success with under the radar recruits, though, so this could work out well for Michigan. www.cityofbasketballlove.com/news_article/show/671388?referrer_id=1566508

Jon Rothstein with some encouraging words for Michigan.
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 4m4 minutes ago Michigan went 12-3 last season with Caris LeVert in the lineup, but just 11-10 without him. Wolverines will return five starters in 16-17.

I was in attendance at Crisler Center for the Michigan basketball season opening game yesterday. The Wolverines defeated Howard in a game that was tougher than the final score would indicate. The final margin of 18 points, 76-58, masks the fact that it was a five point game with 12 minutes to go. Howard is picked to win their conference, but played without their leading scorer who is out with an injury. Michigan was held scoreless the first five minutes of the game. Had Howard not shot 48% from the free throw line, we might have had a closer margin at the end. It's not a good idea to take too much from an early season game, but Michigan doesn't seem to have one of their best teams under JB this season. www.freep.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2016/11/11/michigan-wolverines-howard-bison-college-basketball/93688310/

Jon Rothstein with some hyperbole for Michigan, but they did look good the past two nights. I don't think the win over Marquette was that impressive, because Marquette doesn't seem to be that good, but the win over SMU tonight was noteworthy.
Jon Rothstein @jonrothstein 5m5 minutes ago We're seven days into the season and no team has been more impressive than Michigan. Wolverines rout Marquette and SMU in back-to-back days.

They say you can do a lot for your tournament resume in November. If that's the case, Michigan has had mixed results. After wins against Marquette and SMU, they lost to South Carolina and week ago, and dropped a brutal decision to Virginia Tech. The Wolverines were up 17-4 to start the game and up by 15 at one point while leading almost the entire game. The Hokies made a late push and won 73-70. In addition to that, SMU has lost twice more since losing to the Wolverines and that win might not look as good come March. www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/11/michigan_virginia_tech.html
