Here are numbers updated for all Non-Conference games, except for Albion at Oakland next month - which will probably pull down Oakland's and the league's numbers a bit. Cleveland State and Detroit each have a non-con game left, but those are on the road. Average Attendance, Non-Conference Home GamesSchool | 2014-15 | 2013-14 | Percent Change | 1. Wright State | 4177 | 4114 | 1.5 % | 2. Milwaukee | 3273 | 2477 | 32.1 % | 3. UIC | 3112 | 3531 | -11.9 % | 4. Green Bay | 3072 | 3898 | -21.2 % | 5. Detroit | 2458 | 2089 | 17.7 % | 6. Valparaiso | 2406 | 2701 | -10.9 % | 7. Oakland | 1617 | 1322 | 22.3 % | 8. Youngstown | 1595 | 1472 | 8.4 % | 9. Cleveland State | 1318 | 1918 | -31.3 % |
The Conference average is 2500 on the nose, a decline of 8.1 percent. As noted, my guess is that drops just a bit with Oakland's final home game, and also that OU drops back below YSU in average non-con attendance. Given the generally poor starts for most Horizon teams, we also have to expect that conference attendance will be off as well, but obviously that could change. Meanwhile, here are the 10 best attended non-conference games: 1. Dec. 10, Wisconsin @ Milwaukee: 10,120 2. Nov. 17, Western Illinois @ UIC: 5,575 3. Dec. 6, Loyola @ UIC: 5,449 4. Nov. 14, Belmont @ Wright State: 5,437 5. Dec. 23, George Mason @ Wright State: 4,685 6. Dec. 27, Georgia State @ Green Bay: 4,267 7. Dec. 6, New Mexico @ Valparaiso: 4,227 8. Dec. 13, Wichita State @ Detroit: 4,110 9. Dec. 14, Miami (OH) @ Wright State: 3,752 10. Nov. 16, Ohio Dominican @ Wright State: 3,668 UIC's numbers are pretty impressive given the hideous state of the UIC program.
