Looks like realignments will continue this off season.
Mercer (fresh off an upset of Duke in the NCAA) will leave the Atlantic Sun for the Southern Conference (essentially replacing Davidson, which is headed to the Atlantic 10). East Tennessee State is also leaving the A-Sun for the Southern.

Word on ESPN is that Coastal Carolina will leave the Big South and join the Sunbelt, effective 2016-17.

Hearing some rumors that Lasalle could be planning a conference move in the future, with the MAAC as a possible landing spot

Hearing some rumors that Lasalle could be planning a conference move in the future, with the MAAC as a possible landing spot Why would they want to do that? Lower travel costs, but they'll probably lose attendance and certainly profile. They struggle in the A10 but not horribly so--they're rarely at the bottom and made the NCAAs a couple years ago.

A few things I have read/quoted below. I can't vouch for 100% accuracy. And at the end of the day, i can't believe it will actually happen. BTW, the 3rd point sure sounds familiar: College has a $82 million endowment and is experiencing some financial problems. Recently selling its artwork and has some layoffs. LaSalle was in the MAAC years ago and dominated with players like Lionel Simmons, Tim Legler and Randy Woods. Any decision comes down to money. The A-10 certainly means more money coming from TV revenue , sponsorships, and even attendance . This is offset by higher coaching salaries, travel expenses, marketing etc. LaSalle is definetly feeling a major financial pinch. It is very difficult for any Catholic private school to compete with State schools across the board with multiple sport teams. They dropped their tuition signifanctly and have proposed selling a portfolio of art works due to a declining enrollment and some big negative P/ls which hit the endowment. It does not help that LaSalle is located in a tough area of Philly. I think what is dragging them down are the travel costs with how far flung the A10 has become. Sending your WVB halfway across the country to SLU and Dayton is not great on the pocketbook

I saw this. This strikes me as a bad idea for Gonzaga. Now they are in a basketball conference with a bunch of fellow private schools. In the MWC, they'll be in a football conference with a bunch of publics. More travel. St. Mary's and BYU give them some real good conference competition, and a school like San Francisco could rejoin that elite if they can find the right coach and get a couple breaks. Gonzaga has made it to the pinnacle of college hoops by dominating the WCC. In the MWC, they either don't dominate, or they do. Does either improve their position? I just see no upside to this, unless maybe they know something about BYU returning to the MWC, then maybe.

UMKC is rejoining the Summit. That gives the Summit 10 teams again, setting up the Horizon/Summit challenge that begins in 2020-21.

I laughed out loud when I read the part about UConn going independent in football.
