Oakland University will take a foreign trip this August to Canada. Will play an exhibition against Millhaven Institution and focus on recruiting there.

I think Kay Felder spent time there during his Canadian adventures.

I wonder if coaches poll their players on these trips. So you're a 20 year-old college basketball player: where do you want to take your summer foreign tour?

I’ve heard one D1 coach say that the summer trips matter a lot more than the season non-con schedule overall. Kids want a fun summer trip (usually in Europe) and then maybe a November tourney in the Bahamas or Hawaii. They don’t want to travel in November in December very much. Not every school has that luxury.

Not every school has that luxury. We're entitled to an overseas trip, but I assume money is an obstacle right now. I don't know what Coach's philosophy is on that. There are some good pay to play tournaments in warm climes in November--good opportunity to play solid mid-majors, A10/MVC-type teams on neutral courts. I don't know what it cost to participate, but I've long thought they could be worthwhile. I think we're locked into a few home & homes this year. It will be interesting to see if Coach goes to the almost all guarantee road games approach he used at Texas Southern after this season, and if so, whether that money will be plowed into things like a European trip.
