Eastern will come into their game against U of D with a record of 4-2. They have a couple of good wins over Boston University and Drexel (Drexel beat LaSalle recently) but the losses have been brutal. The blowout at Duke was no surprise, but being held to four total first half points against Rutgers is just embarrassing. Rutgers looks better than last year, but how a team with the talent and experience of the Eagles gets held to four points in a half is unexplainable.
Still, EMU has high hopes for the season. Seems like they are working out some of the kinks and integrating some new players.

I have long been a fan of EMU basketball, and I have to say this past season was one of the most disappointing I have witnessed. The Eagles were picked to be one of the best teams in the MAC and appeared to have enough talent to challenge Buffalo, but finished 9-9 in conference and 15-17 overall. I made it to a couple of games at the Convocation Center and was frustrated by the team's play both times. The Eagles never seemed to play to their potential for more than a game at a time.
Next year's roster will be missing starters James Thompson IV, Paul Jackson, and Elijah Minnie. As the Commissioner has noted, Thompson could put up great numbers, but seemed to come up short in crucial games. I expected that Coach Murphy would be let go after this season, but it appears he will be back. There have been no indications that EMU is even considering a change, and just today they team received a verbal commitment from a JUCO forward.

UPDATE: EMU actually received verbal commitments this week from two players, JUCO forward Thomas Binelli and JUCO guard Yeikson Montero. They need the bodies, as four players are reportedly transferring.

Thanks, Scout. I missed this one. Coach Murphy stacks his roster with guys who were D1 players elsewhere. This guy previously played at Fairleigh Dickinson. Looks like Murphy has at least one more year at the EMU helm.

Looks like Kevin McAdoo is transferring That's kind of a surprise. He averaged a solid 8 points per game on a team where he wasn't called upon to score. Decent stats. I don't know if he would be much better at another mid major, but I guess we'll see how it turns out.

EMU is really stocking up on the JUCO players, aren't they? Well, they need a lot of bodies. Murphy seems to be one of those coaches, similar to Coach Ray, who recruits more on talent level than suitability for a particular style. Gibson looks like a good pick up. Averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per game. Shooting percentage was a little low, at 44%, but he hit 86% from the line. Also carries a 3.85 GPA. I wish he would have picked the Titans.

McAdoo commits to Bradley. I guess he did manage to move up slightly (in my opinion) from the MAC to the Valley. This is why I worry about us getting transfers. How low of a level player with extremely pedestrian stats will we have to settle for, if even someone like McAdoo is moving up? We're waiting and trying to be patient, but for what - a JUCO that averaged 6 ppg? A Patriot League player that averaged 4 ppg? A power conference player that could barely get off the bench? I hope we're waiting for something substantial Yeah, I would say he moved up slightly, and that surprised me a bit. I wasn't sure what the market would be for McAdoo.

2019 South Mountain CC (AZ) G Darion Spottsville has committed to Eastern Michigan. Phoenix native, and I have spent enough time out there lately to realize that they produce a good number of basketball players in Arizona. Not a lot of offers for Darion as far as I can tell, as far as I can tell. EMU stays in the JUCO pool. That is six recruits so far who have come from the JUCO ranks for 2019.
