Jeff Capel, working to clean up the mess that Coach Stallings left of the Pittsburgh program, got verbal commitments from two class of 2019 recruits this week. 6-6 three star forward Gerald Drumgoole of La Lumiere committed on Monday. Today, the Panthers got a commitment from 6-8 forward Karim Coulibaly out of Mali. Both players had multiple high major offers. Pittsburgh is currently 2-10, 12-13. They are a long way from just three years ago when they decided that Jamie Dixon regularly taking the team to the NCAA tournament wasn't good enough. That won't be an easy rebuild.

Some quick notes on the ACC regular season.
Zion Williamson was named top freshman AND player of the year.
Virginia and North Carolina both finished 16-2 in conference. UVA is the top seed in the conference tourney.
The Tar Heels swept Duke.
Florida State went 12-1 to finish the conference slate.
Dick Vitale's favorite school, Notre Dame, finished last in the ACC with a record of 3-15.

If you live within a 100 mile radius of Titan Tar Heel, you could probably hear him cheering today. It was a big day for North Carolina and Roy Williams. The Heels landed verbal commitments from Cole Anthony and Anthony Harris today. Anthony is the son of UNLV's Greg Anthony and is ranked the number #2 player in the class of 2019 by ESPN. Harris is ranked #75 by ESPN. From the looks of it, Cole is a likely one and done player, while Harris projects out as a contributor for three years or so. This Carolina class is deep at guard, as it also includes Jeremiah Francis from Pickerington, Ohio. Francis was a guy we paid attention to early in his high school career because one of his first offers was from Ray Mac when he was the Titan coach.
As the saying goes, "Great Day To Be A Tar Heel."

Right on Sam!! Cole Anthony is a great GREAT get for the Heels. By all accounts he's a stud player, and the best PG in the class and we all know that PG's have such an important part of making that their offense go. The Heels traditionally haven't been a one-and-done school (they've been led by upperclassman for what seems like 10+ seasons now), but in this day and age you have to embrace it and hope to land these guys to keep pace. Francis committed early to the Heels, but had an injury plagued senior year I believe so Roy went out to get some insurance. Duke has added a few commits the last few days. But, after they failed to win this past season with Zion & Co I'm not yet all that concerned about them being world beaters.

The good week continues for the Tar Heels as Charleston Southern grad transfer Christian Keeling commits to UNC.

As an Irish fan I’m so relieved we didn’t get Cole Anthony. He would have made everything all about him, would have left after one year with no degree and made a joke of our program. I’m embarrassed Brey even offered him to begin with. Crises averted. UNC can have him and enroll him in one of their fake degree programs.

Hmmm.
Boogie Ellis, a four star guard in the class of 2019 who signed with Duke, has now been given a release from his LOI. Among the schools mentioned as potential landing spots is Memphis. This is one of several players who were verbally committed or had signed LOIs with other schools who were then recruited by Memphis.

From Titan Tar Heel in the thread about College Basketball Transfer: "And unbelievable 10 days of recruiting for UNC and Roy Williams. Landed the best PG in the 2019 class, two very highly regarded grad transfers, and another 4* guard."
Very true, TTH. I expected the Heels to add some talent, but didn't expect them to add so much so fast. Not sure how much Pierce will help, as he struggled against high major competition, but he'll probably help in the depth department. I think Harris, once fully healthy, will be a big contributor.

Couple of ACC programs added JUCO shooting guards.
Virginia added Tomas Woldentensae from Indian Hills Community College. He is a native of Italy.
Pittsburgh added Ryan Murphy of New Mexico Junior College.
