Coach Sampson added a major transfer to the Cougars as former KU Jayhawk Quinten Grimes committed to Houston. Grimes is a rising sophomore who placed in name in the NBA draft after this past season. He withdrew on the last day but decided to transfer rather than compete for minutes in a talented KU backcourt. He is expected to apply for a waiver, but I don't know what grounds he could use to get it. Sampson seems to be building a beast at UH. Coach Sampson continues a successful off season as 6-9 forward Kiyron Powell commits to the Cougars in the class of 2020. Third commit for that class for Houston, not counting the addition of sit one/play three transfer Quinten Grimes from Kansas. 247sports.com/college/houston/Season/2020-Basketball/Commits/

I wouldn't be surprised if Wiseman has played his last college game. You can't bring them back, but I do long for the days when players signed and played for 4 years; and good mid-major players weren't poached; when you could look forward to the Alcindor/Hayes rematch, or a rivalry between MAC stars like Harper and Palombizio; when signing Wiseman meant 4 good years for Memphis.

Crazy stat of the day. Cincinnati has played three straight overtime games on two separate occasions this season.

Final AAC standings, per conference tourney seeding. Houston, Tulsa, and Cincinnati finished in a three way tie for first at 13-5 in conference play. Memphis and South Florida were disappointments. Tulsa surpassed all preseason predictions and expectations, and probably had the performance of the year in the conference with a 40 point win over Memphis. Memphis freshman Precious Achiwua was named ACC Player of the Year. The center averaged 16, 11, and 2 for the season. Achiuwa is expected to be one and done, as most mock drafts have him going in the lottery.

Wichita State has lost seven scholarship players via transfer this season. I don't know the reasons why, but I have heard everything from Marshall being a tyrannical coach to him running players off, with a smattering of "Kids today have no loyalty". With seven transfers, there might be a little of all of that present. However, Marshall has moved quickly to restock, including getting five commitments in a recent two day stretch. So far they have added six players during the off season, including a grad transfer from UConn. The rest of the additions are two JUCO players and three high school recruits. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Wichita-State-basketball-recruiting-Gregg-Marshall-commitment-Clarence-Jackson-145545405/
