Welcome, Janna. Go Lady Titans!
Seems like she will be a productive player if she is healthy.

Story from detroittitans.comRelevant quote from Coach Collins "Our juco transfers come with quality on-court experience within winning programs," Collins said. "They will be expected to contribute immediately. All of these young ladies have solid skill sets and also have huge upsides. In addition to their abilities to contribute on the court, all of them are excellent students and good people. I am looking forward to coaching each one of them and look forward to seeing them blossom in our system here at Detroit Mercy."

Welcome, ladies.
I'm generally in favor of having JUCOs as part of the recruiting strategy, and when you're basically rebuilding a roster on the fly, the added maturity and experience of JUCO players will be a plus.

Three new transfers. Janna Lewis played JUCO for Coach Collins when she was the head coach at Moltow State. So did new recruit Starasia Bell-Freeman who is a JUCO transfer announced earlier. Collins turned around Moltow State from 7 to 19 wins in two seasons. Daija Moses, the grad transfer from Rider looks like she could help immediately.

All things considered, this is turning into a better roster than I thought we might get. We've got some players who did well on the JUCO level and a decent amount of D1 experience. Kudos to the staff for doing a nice job on the fly. I don't expect many wins, but I will be cheering for this team loudly and often.
Based on her bio, Coach Collins has put together good teams from scratch before.
From the website: "Collins was most recently the head coach at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, recording a mark of 22-4 and taking over a roster that had no players and building a team that began the year on an eight-game winning streak and received votes nationally in the Top-25 NJCAA Poll by season's end. Under Collins guidance, Harford led the NJCAA in points allowed per game (48.6), along with steals per game (16.9), while also finishing second in blocks per game (8.4)."

We have announced a new player. Tori Powell, a grad transfer from UNC-Greensboro. She appears to have replaced a JUCO recruit named Starasia Bell-Freeman who had played for Coach Collins at Motlow State. No information on why the roster change.
