The Lady Titans were predicted to finish second this year in the Horizon, behind Green Bay. Detroit's Rosanna Reynolds was the preseason pick for Player of the Year. Brianne Cohen was a preseason Second Team all Conference selection.
Oakland was picked to finish 7th, yet, oddly, was the only team other than Green Bay to get a first place vote.

The Lady Titans moved to 8-3 in the conference, a game head of Milwaukee, with a convincing win over the Panthers on Thursday. I had the pleasure of seeing this game live at Calhihan, and if you saw it on TV you probably saw me screaming like a madman in the first row of the bleachers across from the scorer's table It was a very entertaining game, with senior guard Rosanna Reynolds putting on a show. See the link below for an account of the game, including her memorable performance. Coach Scott is doing a great job with the women's program, and while the will miss Reynolds next season, they have good young talent on that team. Go Lady Titans! www.detroittitans.com/news/2017/2/2/womens-basketball-titans-down-panthers-reynolds-breaks-career-assists-record.aspx

Ladies have a big game on Saturday, hosting first place Green Bay at 1:00.

The Lady Titans had a successful Senior Night this evening, beating HL leader Wright State by a score of 85-80 and finishing the home portion of league play a perfect 9-0. Coach Scott's crew finishes 11-5 in conference games.
I was at this game, and it was a great time. Wright State has an excellent team, but they fell to the Titans at Calihan just like then top 25 Green Bay did earlier in the season. Congratulations to Coach Scott and the ladies, and good luck at Joe Louis Arena. I'm looking forward to seeing them in action in the conference tourney.
Go Titans!

The third-seeded Titan women trounced second-seeded Wright State this afternoon, 71-52. The gals trailed by 1 at the half, but struck first in the third quarter and never trailed after. They led by 5 after three quarters and then outscored the Raiders 24-10 in the 4th. Reynolds had 19 points and Hannah Ristovski had one of those stat lines I love: 0 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists. They'll play top seeded Green Bay for an NCAA bid tomorrow.

I was late arriving; in fact, the Titans trailed 23-17 when I took my seat, but then closed the half on a 6-1 run and just kept going after the break. After the game, I told Coach Scott that it was my fault that the team struggled early, because I was late and I'm sure they were just waiting for me to get there. Coach Scott replied, "Well, you better be on time tomorrow."
