Green Bay got a big boost today when Sandy Cohen, a transfer from Marquette, was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Cohen played 19 minutes last year as a junior for Marquette, burning a year of eligibility, then transferred mid-season to Green Bay. Green Bay planned to hold him out this whole season, giving him a full year to play in 2018-19. Now he'll come on in December, and play a year and a half with the Phoenix.

That's a nice break for the Phoenix. Cohen didn't set the Big East on fire, but he should be a good contributor in the HL. He had some good games against mid major competition while at Marquette.

A teammate of Jesse Barnes, whom the Titans offered shortly before BA was fired.

Some interesting info on Green Bay Athletic Department. greenbayphoenix.com/news/2019/4/11/general-uw-green-bay-announces-adjustments-to-student-athlete-tuition-waiver-program.aspxBe sure to note the final FAQ, which deals with their CIT participation. Note 1) they had a donor step up to cover some costs; and 2) they note (somewhat indirectly) that playing just one added guarantee game can fund the tournament and then some. Given the difficulty we have getting good regular season games at home anyway, and Coach's preference for tough non-conference road games, I would definitely take those CIT/CBI bids and play the guarantee games to fund them. The extra play and practice are good for development. It probably is a marginal plus in some recruiting--I can't see how it would much hurt. Green Bay's run to the CIT final seems to have left fans with a much more positive feel for the season just passed and the team generally.
