I have been watching Wonders since 8th grade. He is extremely disciplined and a smart player. He is really slow a foot and can not elevate. He is not a guard but more a small forward without lift and an extremely unfluid running motion. Obviously the D1 coaches who are offering think he can play. He does have a lot of intangibles and a great family. I would bet Liedel would win a tip against Wonders. I hope I am wrong but I can see Wonders having a lot of physical problems in the future. As far as Joe getting his shot off, his release is very quick and he has extended range. He looks to have a quicker release than Brad and seems to be a better without having to set his feet. I will be surprised if Joe does not see a lot of floor time as a Frosh. I do not think we have seen players like him before at UD. The closest I can think of is AD and he has done quite well. Plus Joe wants to be a Titan and wants to go to UD. First off, I've only watched Liedel in highlight videos. One thing I noticed in those highlight videos is that he's never touched the rim with his hand. I'm not sure why you'd think he'd get the tip over anybody... let alone someone 5 inches taller. I'd project them both as 2-guards in college, with Wonders being oversized at the spot and Liedel being undersized. I don't see either of them having very quick releases (I don't know why you posted that about Joe), so the 5" that Foster has would definitely help at the next level. Joe's range looks to be better, though both are excellent 3-point shooters... so I'm not sure that matters much. I say that because I'm hoping I don't have to watch anyone chuck up a 30-footer on the regular. I've seen that enough with AD and JJJ over the past few years. I think the x-factor for Liedel will be ball handling. I'm hoping he can provide support there, though that remains to be seen. I think Joe has a very quick release and can shoot without getting set. I guess the reason I said he has a quick release is because it looks to me like he does.

We're no longer in on him, but a big Michigan prospect sets his final list and an announcement date

I'm not sure if we were even interested, but it's a shame he didn't come here. He's a star in the making and has a 4* name +1, but this doesn't look like a commitment, just reporting an offer. Wonders was offered by Cleveland State today. It would be embarrassing if he ends up with a Horizon League team and not us. I hope we at least make an offer

Looking at the profile for these three, it appears our new recruiting strategy is to offer whomever the University of Arkansas - Little Rock does.

I can just imagine a recruit talking with his parents about his decision at the kitchen table. Comparing scholarship offers between a dozen D2 schools plus Arkansas-Little Rock and Detroit Mercy. I suppose they’d conclude the kid would get more minutes at Detroit Mercy but would be on a team that only gets 9 wins so might as well take one of the D2 offers and earn playing time.

I get the sarcasm; it's deserved.
But to the kid who thinks "we suck so why go to U-D": I don't want him. Most of these kids are filled with confidence. I want ones who come in believing they are adding a secret ingredient to an existing cast that will help turn us into winners. This is hoops, not football. It doesn't take much additional to become a winner. I honestly think this current team is only 2 or 3 players away if they are the right players.

I mean, obviously, we want them all, but he's the big inside player we need and the most likely immediate impact player. Generally ranked in the top 10 or even top 5 in Chicago, he's got a bunch of mid-major offers, and beating out St. Louis and UIC in particular will be very tough. Temple and some other high majors have been sniffing around, too.

We already knew about this one, I just liked the graphic and his scoring numbers, so I wanted to post it. Could he be a taller version of Liedel?
