I just looked at the latest 990 from UDM and I was surprised the university is not still paying BA any compensation. I kind of always assumed BA had a 5-7 year deal and would keep getting paid for a couple years after the firing. Maybe he negotiated some lump sum with his exit, maybe his contract wasn’t all that great.
At any rate, I’m sure he has more than enough money to retire after coaching at Mich, UDM, and Denver. Hope he can make a difference in his community in his new career path.

I think Bacari Alexander would make a great motivational speaker, I wish UDM would hire him in some type of fund raising capacity, he can glad-hand with the best of them, and would raise a lot of $$$.

I could see this. He had me completely bought in to what he could do to this program at the beginning of his term. By the second year the talent he was getting was on a downward trend along with giving minutes to a guy on game day didn't appear to be the one that deserved it.

Nice article about Bacari from Tony Paul in the Detroit News: “Once a rising basketball-coaching star, Bacari Alexander transitions to student-welfare work” www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/high-school/2021/08/09/bacari-alexander-transitions-student-welfare-work/5518482001/It’s behind the pay wall, but here’s an excerpt relating to UDM; “I'm still engaged with the university, and, quite frankly, I don't know if I could ever repay back what the university has done for me," said Alexander, who between his playing, assistant and head-coaching days, spent 10 seasons at Detroit Mercy. He said in working with the students at River Rouge, he will be a big promoter of sending them on to his alma mater.
