He wasn't really a Titan recruit, but he was one of the top recruits in the nation in the class of 2013. James Young barely held on to a roster spot in Boston, after struggling his first two years as a pro after a so so year at Kentucky. He beat out recent mid major hero RJ Hunter, of Georgia State. Of course, RJ's dad Ron Hunter is the head coach at GSU, where Ray McCallum is the associate head coach. Would have been nice for the two of them to each have a son playing in the NBA this season. Hopefully, RJ sticks with someone. www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2016/10/james_young_beats_out_rj_hunte.htmlOne thing you realize from such reports is how good these NBA players are, how few players make it.

Nice to see a local guy doing well. Would have been nice to see him excelling as a Titan. Lots of things might be different with the program had he and DeBerry been academically eligible out of high school.

Former Titan target and Saginaw native Jalen Adams is transferring from St. Bonaventure. Adams was a red shirt in 2013-14 and played sparingly in 2014-15. Ironically, a freshman guard named Jaylen Adams took most of the minutes that Jalen was in line for this past season. Jalen had a very good high school career at Arthur Hill, which is known for producing D1 talent. The Titans were interested in him a couple of years ago, but I don't know what the interest level is now. campuswatch.buffalonews.com/2015/04/02/two-reserves-will-transfer-from-st-bona-basketball-team/Jalen Adams is now at Mott Community College. He had a red shirt freshman year at St. Bonaventure, played very little the next year, and now is at JUCO. He's gotta make the right choice on where to play after this season. Hopefully he has a good JUCO year and is able to garner similar interest to what he had coming out of Arthur Hill. Jalen Adams was a pretty hot recruit in the Class of '13. But he washed out at St. Bonaventure, went to Mott CC for a year, then spent last season at Wayne State. Anyway, now he's transferring to Olivet, and he ought to be a major talent at the MIAA level. Remember, Olivet also has picked up former Oregon recruit Trevor Manuel.

Not a former Titan, but a former Titan commit, Shaq McKissic is still playing overseas. This is an interesting article I came across detailing his current activities and the role social media plays in his life. When I want to make myself sad, I think about how close the Titans came to adding a lot more talent during the Ray Mac years, just from guys who committed but didn't end up signing. That includes guys who went on to play at upper levels like Coreontae DeBerry (Cincinnati), Lorenzo Bonam (Utah), Aaron Simpson (DePaul), and McKissic (Arizona State). Would have been fun. www.thebasketballembassy.org/posts/2021/4/5/success-in-all-endeavors-olympiacos-star-shaq-mckissic-building-empire-in-greece

Yeah, I can't be sure but I think it would have been better than that. With those two we probably don't have the two losing seasons we had after the NIT year and that 2015-16 season ends up north of 20 wins. Just my thoughts.

Probably not appropriate for the 2013 recruiting thread - although I believe we may have discussed it in the 2012 recruiting thread (& I guess you never know what can happen) - but Trey Zeigler just announced he is transferring out of Pittsburgh. Really just a sad story - going to be his 3rd school in 3 years (if he's even eligible to play next season - I doubt the NCAA gives him a waiver 2 years in a row)and remember the DUI back in November - just a bunch of questionable decisions. I remember a time when he and Ray were mentioned in the same sentence, not only for the playing for your father in college at a mid major school connection, but as far as playing ability and ranking coming out of high school. Remember Trey Zeigler? I believe Coach Ray was trying to get him to Detroit after he transferred from Pitt prior to the 2013 season. He ended up at TCU, where he averaged 11 ppg for his final season of college ball. Kicked around overseas for a few years, and last year he joined Creighton as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff. He was just announced as an assistant coach at High Point University. I wish we could have landed Trey as a player at U-D, but his Dad did a good job for us as an assistant coach. highpointpanthers.com/news/2023/5/11/trey-zeigler-joins-hpu-mens-basketball-staff.aspx
