Jimmy, that Ward thing is weird.
Whether West is on that top 100 list or not, we don't seem to be in the mix for anyone better suited for that shot blocking/rebounding role. And we desperately need that. We've got no commitment from anyone else. That's why I would have loved to get him.
I can see why he chose Nevada, though. In the past decade they've made four NCAA tournaments and three NITs. There games are on FM radio on the local ESPN radio affiliate. And even in this down year it looks like they were drawing well; I checked the attendance on a few of their home games and they are regularly over 6,000. They drew almost 10,000 for their home game against UNLV. Plus, they have that good weather. :-)
Interestingly, they played Green Bay at Reno this year and drew a crowd of 6,691.

#60/68 - hmmm. The Titans apparently did make overtures to at least a players on this list, including #68 Karrington Ward (to East Michigan), #28 Dustin Hogue (to Iowa State), and #76 Justin Edmonds (to Marshall) and we are apparently still after #56, Ibrahim Djambo. I hope we at least approached #83, Fred Mattison, and he simply wasn't interested (or better, he is interested and we've just heard nothing of it).

If west didn't want to come for a great education the why was he here in the winter and sched. Visit. If he wanted free rides he could have met Jh at cedar point. We can't let a kid who has problems with decisions bounce around the country looking for his next Walmart greeters job. We needed to ask and then instantly move on. A reputation for closing and having confidence is not bad but a belief in your product.

it sure would be encouraging to get a commitmrnt or two in the next couple of days as the closer we get to signing day the less chance of landing better recruits eill be.

Things are too quiet on the recruiting front. I mentioned in the 2014 recruiting thread that I hope we sign some guys in November for the 2014 class because this uncertainty is the worst.

We have offered Ayinde Sprewell, a 6'3" shooting guard (and nephew of former NBA player Latrell). He is currently a freshman at Three Rivers College and averaged 11.6 ppg (and is the teammate of Ibrahim Djambo). Sprewell appears (but I'm not really sure since this whole situation is tough to follow) to have been a member of the class of 2012 and committed to (& later decommited from) Florida International. He's now listed in the class of 2013 at Three Rivers. Offering another guard at this late time may give us some indication of a guard leaving the program, or the coaches may have just seen and liked Sprewell while recruiting Ojambo, or it may mean absolutely nothing at all. theeastsideperspective.com/ayinde-sprewell-is-determined/dar.rustcom.net/story/1862755.html

Here's an updated list. I've removed A.J. West after his commitment to Nevada. I've also removed A.J. Riley (these A.J.s are bad news) who sat out his senior year of HS and has reportedly lost all his D-I offers. I just can't see that we're recruiting him at all. There's a couple other guys on this list I doubt we're still interested in, but not knowing I've left them on. And I've added Ayinde Sprewell, thanks to TJMK for the tip.

Interesting that we have offered another guard. I'm guessing the coaches know something we don't. Kirky has speculated (perhaps with inside knowledge) that Dos Santos may be gone next year. We've all wondered about PJ and Indy is sure that PJ has other offers.
ESPN has Sprewell rated at 70.

i have been told we will lose at least one guard... i don't know who... if we are offering late (when i talked to coach in depth before the valpo game he was not looking at guards) i assume someone is leaving.

Well, we are in good shape for guards next year, but we'll definitely have playing time and opportunities available in 2014-15.
Kirky, do you think Dos Santos is the most likely to go?

i have been told we will lose at least one guard... i don't know who... if we are offering late (when i talked to coach in depth before the valpo game he was not looking at guards) i assume someone is leaving. The key words there are "at least." We will be fine losing 1 guard; no big shakes if its Dos Santos, sad if its PJ, bad news if its Jason or Ray. Even if we lose Jason and Ray, I like the CB and Wilson backcourt. From a purely speculative unscientific pulling numbers out of my arse standpoint, here are my thoughts on odds of guards returning: Ray - 80% Jason - 20% PJ - 50% DosSantos - 40% Wilson - 90% Brundidge - 100%

Jimmy, I think Jason is a better bet than 20% to come back, but I could be wrong about that.
I also like the backcourt of Wilson and CB in the future. Wilson had his share of freshman moments, but his potential was obvious.
