It appears that Mike Davis will be announced as our new head coach this week. It is also rumored that his son, Antoine Davis, who just got out of his obligation to the University of Houston, is coming with him. Antoine Is one one of the best shooters in Texas high school history and is a 4-star recruit.

It’s the internet, you don’t need a source.

I have no reason to doubt what Hyperion posted (in fact, I consider him/her a reliable poster), but let's remember what was posted not too long ago on the other board when Bronkema was going to be our head coach:

I understand and agree with people being cautious about these rumors, but citing the Bronkema situation as a reason to not believe these rumors isn’t grounded. Bronkema did accept the job (was correctly reported) and then ended up turning it down a couple days later (was reported correctly). The only thing (non Tony Paul related) that was mis reported during this search was Andre LaFleur being on campus.

I realize you're excited - nothing wrong with that, but I started my post out with: Never said I didn't believe or that it's false. Just tapping the brakes a bit. We have all been fooled before. I'm thinking something like: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Other schools Antoine Davis considered before committing to Houston: Nevada, SFA, UTEP, Colorado St. Saw that he averaged 23 ppg as a junior.
An August 2017 article reporting that he committed to UH quotes the guard as saying it was a tough call for him to not play for his dad.
“It was, but he said if I don’t go play for him, go play for somebody that can coach,” Antoine Davis said.
“He said Coach (Kelvin) Sampson is a really good coach. It was a tough decision, but I felt like I made the right one.”
Antoine Davis said playing for Sampson was critical to his decision to choose the Cougars.
“He played a big part, seeing that he sent players to the NBA, and knowing that he can really coach, and my dad says he can really coach,” Antoine Davis said.
Mike Davis said he is happy to see his son playing for the University of Houston.
“We had a long conversation about it, him playing where he wanted to play,” Mike Davis said. “It just made sense. Everything made sense to him, being able to stay here and play for Coach Sampson at the University of Houston. I think he needed to grow up. You just got to grow, and you can only do some much for them as a parent.
“I think Houston is a sleeping giant.”

The only thing (non Tony Paul related) that was mis reported during this search was Andre LaFleur being on campus. I do not know if Andre LaFleur interviewed for the UD job or not. However, just because he posted a picture of himself in his office on the day of the reported interview does not mean that he did not interview with us. I have seen job candidates go to great measures to cover their tracks when going out on a job interview. Again, I do not know if this is the case here, but the picture does not really prove anything.

But I didn’t make that clear.

Today will be an exciting day with many posts on both forums. Luckily, I'm in a great mood after the Mets swept the Diamondbacks over the weekend.
I live for Titan hoops and Mets baseball.
And gymnastics at whatever school my daughter attends in 2019.

This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find anything about Antoine Davis getting out of his commitment from UH. Is this also rumor or am I just missing it on-line somewhere?

I even went to the Houston message board and there was no talk of it.
