I would think that The announcement of Dad as coach would precede Antoine's decommitment. If Dad stays at Tx Southern, Antoine stays at Houston.

Per Twitter
Coach Mike Davis says his son, Antoine, a 6-2 guard, is exploring his options and will visit Auburn June 5-6.
Davis has received his release.

Does this give any clue as to Dad's future?

Let's dream a little. Why is Jr recommitting from Houston? Perhaps Kelvin Sampson is getting the Orlando job...maybe not. In any event, Jr would not be leaving Houston if Dad was a serious candidate for that job.
So does Dad decide to stay at Texas Southern or cast his lot with the Titans? One advantage that we have is IMO ....a higher ceiling in Detroit. He can't do much more where he is..minimal budget, no non conference home games, There is a lot of room to grow at 6LIV....a great place for Coach to wrap up his career..then hand it over to Son #1..the assistant coach.
Is that scenario worth waiting for?

Is he really de-commiting? I thought that was conjecture. Have you actually seen anything online? (I hope so!)

I don't expect Antoine to transfer to Detroit if he is looking at Auburn and others of that ilk. I was referring to Michael Jr accompanying Dad as Asst Coach. More like the Ray and Joey Meyer days at DePaul. Motor City Sam was fond of those teams....Dave Corzine, Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings, etc.

I am thinking Mike Davis all of this week. Someone told me that basketball staff other than HC are on annual contracts that expire 5/31. Could June 1 be a magic (no pun intended) date?

Mike Davis has been hired but the announcement will be delayed, for reasons unknown. His son, a transfer, and two high profile JUCOs are rumored to be on their way. I want to say I don't care anymore, but I do. Thanks Hyperion - you have been reliable in the past so I'll trust what your posting (although I'll hold off on getting excited until the announcement comes)

It appears that Mike Davis will be announced as our new head coach this week. It is also rumored that his son, Antoine Davis, who just got out of his obligation to the University of Houston, is coming with him. Antoine Is one one of the best shooters in Texas high school history and is a 4-star recruit. Hyp, I trust that you are more accurate this time.

The graduate transfer is probably Trayvon Reed...7'2..240 lbs.....9ppg..8rpg...3 balks game...68%FG....he played one year at Auburn...then sat out two before last season. Much more productive than Jason Bennett from Ray Macs first season.
