Seeing a flurry of 2022 commitments from all levels across the college basketball landscape the past couple of weeks. I know we received the commitment from Johnson already, but what are your thoughts? Think we'll be seeing any other commits out of high school or JUCO by signing day in November? Personally, I have no idea. Haven't heard much about visits from the players we've offered for 2022, and we know how comfortable this staff is with the transfer market.

I think our player pool since Coach Davis has arrived has been for more seasoned players who can step in and allow us to get the most from AD. I think the post AD period will see Coach Davis depending less the "transfer market"

If I understand the 2021 waiver correctly, we have just 1 player who is clearly out of eligibility after this year--Matt Johnson--but there are 6 others who will be playing their 4th year of college ball (3 of them who will be in their 5th year of college this year) and would be decent bets to leave rather than take advantage of the fifth year granted. The staff probably has some idea of who plans to stay or go beyond this year but I surely don't. Assuming Johnson signs an LOI this fall my guess is that unless we find a three star player, we don't sign anyone else before spring when things shake out a bit.

This thread is referring to Cordell Livingston, who we offered. I assume that "going to Detroit-Mercy" is just making fun of small schools like us, and he's not actually committed to us

Possibly for Jahshawne Joseph a 2022 who lists himself as a 6’8 guard or Saevion Brown a 2022 who lists himself as a 6’6 PG

Maybe I’m being a little touchy but someone from the university messaged back the poster at Westlake and chastised him for calling us the University of Detroit stating if you want to thank us get our name right. To me this person is an idiot and if they are in the athletic dept. maybe they shouldn’t be there anymore. Things like this are really really counterproductive. We send someone down to watch a practice and we have someone undermine the effort. It’s tough enough trying to recruit for a hospital basketball team let alone someone pissing on the effort. This is rude and demeaning to the coach of the player we went to scout. Does anyone recognize the picture? Maybe Davis okayed the reply but probably not. Our guy goes by the handle the know-tortious RJB.

It was a stupid response and I hope that guy isn't part of the athletic department. I doubt Coach Davis or anyone on the staff was okay with it. That response took a positive moment and quickly put a negative spin on it. Westlake added a post to correct the name, which means that they are nicer than I am. I would have redone the original post and deleted the reference to the Titans. Westlake had many schools visiting, including powerhouse programs like Villanova. They were doing us a favor.

It's even worse. The tweet appears to be from Ronald J. Bernas, "Communications Specialist", in the university's "Marketing & Communications" Department. Here's a link to his bio page on the university website. What an idiotic way to handle this issue! Unprofessional. And he used his private Twitter account to try and hide his role. I have sent a complaint to the President. All of you should also do the same.

upbasketballfan - thank you for bringing this reply to public attention. It was a hidden reply in my Twitter feed. I have received replies to my email from both the President and from this employee's direct supervisor. They share our opinions about the Tweet. "Unacceptable and unprofessional." This employee will be held to account for his Tweet. Go Titans!!!!!
