Detroit struggles in most sports as well. The Titans and Griffins could have an annual competition for the "Great Lakes Struggle Bus" trophy.

Word is that Bryant is head to the MAAC. That will give the league 12 teams; not sure who their travel partner will be because there are already two Connecticut schools in the league (Quinny & Fairfield) and they are the closest to Rhode island. That's a decent add for this league.

Anger in what's left of the dwindling Canisius fan base has reached an all-time high. Reggie Witherspoon has to be fired this week. The program won't last through another year of his non-leadership.

That's a decent add for this league. Monmouth is leaving, so if Bryant does join the MAAC their number would stay at eleven. I heard the MAAC was considering expansion to 12 so maybe room for one more.

Iona loses to Rider in the tourney quarterfinals. Whoever wins this thing is an absolute lock for a play-in game.

Wow, my post certainly did not age well! Happy for that. And congrats to WSU for earning an extra unit for the Horizon. Canisius has a new president, young guy from DePaul the alums are very enthusiastic about. He starts July 1. Probably too late to fix the mess that is Canisius basketball for the upcoming season - it looks as if Reggie Witherspoon won't be fired - but hopefully he can get the wheels rolling again soon and help fix the athletic department, which has struggled mightily during the Covid pandemic. Sounds as if CC and Detroit have many similar issues. And hopefully new presidents can be part of the solution.

During his introductory press conference at Seton Hall, former St. Peter's Coach Shaheen Holloway brought in his entire St. Peter's roster and introduced them to the crowd and media. The Seton Hall fans and officials gave the Peacocks a standing ovation. Classy move all around.

Rumor is Sacred Heart is going to the MAAC, from the Northeast Conference, which is also losing Bryant.

Rumor is Sacred Heart is going to the MAAC, from the Northeast Conference, which is also losing Bryant. Further supporting your statement - taken from one of the MAAC teams message board (FYI: they're not looking to expand west, which should kill any talk of us joining the MAAC) “The MAAC commissioner has already dispelled the notion of the MAAC expanding via the D2 ranks. He's stated they won't go more west than the current footprint and they're focusing on D1 schools that fit the MAAC brand in New England and towards the Southern footprint for expansion. That means the likes of Vermont and Robert Morris are ruled out, while schools like Hofstra, Wagner, Merrimack, Sacred Heart, and Mount Saint Mary's are on the likely wishlist. Other statements by him makes it sound like one is already on board and they're looking for a second.” Top

Three Canisius starters and several reserves have entered the portal. Reggie Witherspoon is killing the program, aided by the AD's refusal or inability to fire him.

Now it's being reported Mount St. Mary's to the MAAC.
