I think Canisius would be a good school to start a home-and-home series with, also Niagara, could be a back-to-back trip. Perhaps also St Peters and West Point. I envision something like a "Great Lakes Challenge Cup," with head-to-head competition in all sports offered by both schools.

Georgetown or St. John's. He'd love to go to Notre Dame but they won't touch him.

Canisius is bringing back Reggie Witherspoon for one final season, it can't afford to fire him. What fans they have left are not happy.

MAAC Final Standings:
1. Iona 17-3, 27-8 2. Rider 13-7, 16-14 3. Quinnipiac 13-7, 20-12 4. Sienna 5. Niagara 6. Manhattan 7. Fairfield 8. Mount St. Mary 9. Canisius 10. St. Peter's 11. Marist
As expected, Iona took the MAAC crown and represented the conference in the NCAA tournament. The Gaels actually had a two point halftime lead against eventual champ UConn before falling in the first round. Last year's Cinderella, St. Peter's, fell hard under a new coach and a very different roster. Showing the big gap between the haves and have nots in college basketball, Quinnipiac's head coach, coming off a twenty win season, resigned his position to take a "General Manager of Basketball" position on the Villanova staff. $$$$

Valpo's Cam Palesse is transferring to Canisius. He was injured last year as a true freshman.

He's got a lot of overall coaching experience and experience in the big chair. He might not be a bad candidate after Spoon. Canisius is one of those programs that I wouldn't mind seeing have a resurgence. I remember Ray Hall tearing it up in the 80s.

Many alums would love to give Pat Beilein a second chance, after his screwup at Niagara. He is coaching HS ball in the Syracuse area.
Canisius had it going under John Beilein in the 1990s but there is no way they were going to keep him for long.
For this fan, anyone other than Reggie W is an upgrade. No interaction with alums, or students, or enthusiasm on the bench during games.

Pat Beilein is coaching the local public high school basketball team here in Baldwinsville NY.

Crazy that someone else has them in last place. I think it's a good sign that both Lindy's and Blue Ribbon, which have been doing this for awhile, see Canisius finishing in the upper division. We might see more of that in mid majors, as so many are undergoing major roster overhauls each year. No one really knows what to expect.

These guys really aren't your father's Street and Smith, 3 of them pick Rider for # 1, and 1 picks Rider for # 8. How is that possible?

Hopefully if the Griffs have a good year they won't so something stupid and keep Reggie around. He's well past his sell-by date.
New president has been a breath of fresh air. Enrollment up by 2.2% and applications up 18%.
