With the caveat that I couldn't actually see any of this ...
Lots not to like, but they got the W. I'll still say bad shooting was the big issue, and made other things seem worse. 37.1% overall; 7-25 from three. Foul shooting was poor, too, although the difference in the game was we got a lot more free shots. Disappointed not to get a better advantage on the boards, and disappointed to give up 76 points to Wayne State. I had hoped for more from Hamrick and Knight. Long played maybe 5 minutes in the second half (he did have foul trouble), and Blackshear not much more. I wonder about that--especially given our lack of advantage on the boards. And only 9 assists for the game.
Some good stuff--Davis seemed good, although his shooting, too was off. Brandon sounds like a rebounding machine. Kept the turnovers and fouls low. Got the win in the end.

Minutes: McFolley 33 Davis 32 -- he sat a while after a hard fall in the second half. A combined 4-15 from the floor for our guards. They'll have to shoot better
King 28 --- he also shot poorly; 2-6 from 3, 3-10 overall. Holland 23 Blackshear 21 Hamrick 18 Brandon 15 Knight 13 Long 11
As I noted in a post above, Blackshear and especially Long barely played in the second half. Blackshear had 9 points and 5 rebounds at the break. Was there something Davis didn't like? Did he just want to try other lineups? Are Blackshear legs still fragile?
Cameo minutes for Moore and Nguidjol.
The walk-ons didn't play, including Riley, whom I thought might. I gather Isiani has some minor injury. Curry is presumably still awaiting clearance.
Anyway, a W to start the Davis era.

Just got back home from the game. Davis is a good point guard, he found the open man on the break several times, they just didn't finish, he could have had at least 4 additional assist. After the things I witnessed last year, that was very refreshing. Davis also missed a few layups himself. He cramped up and was playing on a gimp leg for most of the 2nd half. Another year in the weight room and he will be a really good player. Brandon is strong and gives us a physical presence inside, coach Davis chewed him out for missing a put back. Knight and Holland play bully ball, especially Holland. Not sure how this will work against D1 competition. We had some defensive break downs at the end of the game, I am sure coach Davis will correct these issues.

In the final analysis, I'm just going to say that I am glad the Titans won. Three straight losses to D2 competition was a cloud hanging over the program. Looks like the fans were treated to an exciting game and we raised money for a good cause. The rest of the season will answer some of the questions that came up last night. Go Titans.

its a curious stat rb. not sure if his four points came off put backs? but with 7 chances one might think that he could have had more? thought it interesting nevertheless. i like long. he always contributes no matter his minutes.
commish. actually im in france. will be home wednesday.
