Freshman of the Week: Antoine Davis of Detroit-Mercy
INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit Mercy sits in first place in the Horizon League standings at 5-1 after winning both of its home contests last week and have swept the #HLMBB weekly honors as Josh McFolley has been named Player of the Week and Antoine Davis has been selected Freshman of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly awards on Monday.

The senior was a big part of the weekend sweep, which propelled the Titans to 5-1 in the Horizon League as he averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 steals, 3.0 assists and 1.5 rebounds and shot 60 percent overall and 63 percent from three. He netted a season-high 29 points hitting 10-of-16 from the field with six 3-pointers as well as coming away with a season-high five steals in the blowout win over then-first place Green Bay. He came back with 18 points, nailing four more triples with four assists and two steals in the victory over Milwaukee. He is now fourth in school history with 185 career steals, just 10 shy of the school record, and he is also 22nd in school history with 1,272 career points.

Davis claims his sixth #HLMBB Freshman of the Week honor of the season after tallying 30.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 53 percent from the field, 47 percent from long range and 82 percent at the line. He started the week with 29 points to help the Titans take down first-place Green Bay and then posted his eighth 30-point game of the year with 32 points and tying his season high with seven assists in the win over Milwaukee. He is still second in the nation in scoring at 27.7 points per game and leads the nation with 90 3-pointers as he is now fourth in school history and still chasing Stephen Curry's NCAA freshman record of 122 triples. He also leads the nation in total points at 498, breaking the Titan freshman mark for points in a season of 446 by Ray McCallum in 2010-11.
