And on Friday, April 5:
CBI Final: Santa Clara wins the best 2 of 3 CBI final by rallying to defeat George Mason at GMU, 80-77. GMU scored the game's first 8 points but couldn't deliver an early knockout, although they led the entire first half. The teams ended up tied at 70 with 4 minutes to go and played some exciting stretch basketball. GMU's Patrick Holloway missed what would have been a game tying trey with 1 second on the clock. Senior Kevin Foster, Santa Clara's all-time career scoring leader, closed out his career with 24 points, including a 3 pointer that gave Santa Clara the lead for good with 1:13 to play. Marc Trasolini, another 4 year starter for the Broncos, added 20 in his final college game.
Santa Clara finishes 26-12, GMU 22-16.

So, question for the fans on this board: Who are you rooting for tonight, Michigan or Louisville? Are you going to support a team from the state, or does the fact that Michigan hasn't put us back on their schedule going to make you a Cardinal fan tonight?
This is a tough one for me. My brother in law is a Michigan grad who played on their championship football team in 97, and he'll be very happy if they win (as will my niece and nephew). Generally speaking, I don't like the Wolverines, but I also don't like Pitino. Going to be rough for me to know who to pull for.
The idea of my niece and nephew being happy with a Michigan win is probably going to win out.

I expected you to be rooting for the Cards since Michigan beat Florida and KU, but you surprised me.

I was really hoping for a Wichita State/UM final. And a WSU title, with them presumably coming to Calihan next year, would have been doubly cool.
You don't think of it this way, but consider - assuming we host Wichita next year, that means that in the 2011, 2012, and 2014 seasons we will have hosted in Calihan a Final 4 team from the prior year.
