The national Division 2 JUCO preseason rankings are out. Michigan is well represented. #12 Mott #13 Schoolcraft #19 St. Clair County Receiving Votes: Lansing and Henry Ford. As the recent commit for Green Bay shows, the state D2 JUCO programs have sent players on to D1 basketball. www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2019-20/div2/rankings/preseason

Top Five battle in D2 JUCO. #2 Schoolcraft 101, #4 South Suburban 93 in overtime. The Ocelots are 11-0. Guard Tre Harvey had 30 points. 6-7. 220 forward Bryce Hunt had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks. It's a talented roster. I am going to have to make my way over to Haggerty Road and check out some games.

Check out the crazy stat line for Yazid Powell from the Community College of Beaver County from last night. The freshman guard, in his 1st start, scored 81 points in 31 minutes on 35 of 52 shooting (he purposely missed his last free throw to stay at 81 to honor Kobe Bryant). and it only brought his average up to 16.3 ppg! (his previous 5 games were 9, 0, 20, 12 and 15 points) ccbc.prestosports.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/boxscores/20200127_kdi3.xml?view=boxscore

Leon Ayers, who averaged 21 ppg last season for Henry Ford Community College, committed to Mercer. He had committed to Green Bay originally but de-comitted after the coaching change. Ayer played high school ball at Troy.

How the heck does that work? You can go part-time and drag your Junior College degree over 3 years now? If so, would that be attractive to major colleges?

Ayer played high school ball at Troy. In case anyone besides me was wondering, Ayers played in 29 games for Mercer this season, averaging 12 ppg with shooting percentages of 52/39/74. Solid season. Of course, he transferred to Duquesne in April.
