Would you have Titans play in CBI if offered?

12 is such a great number for a basketball tournament. Shit, is the CBI using Vowels as a consultant?!

Would you have Titans play in CBI if offered? I guess I’m torn. I’m generally against the CIT and CBI. If you didn’t qualify for the NCAA or the NIT (100 of 350some teams) it’s time to end your season and get back in the classroom IMO. After all, these are student athletes. But, this year is so odd with some teams missing a lot of games. If there was any season for UDM to “invest” in a CBI appearance I guess this would be it, as next season is AD’s senior year and presumably a lot of other talented players are returning. Extra practices/games this spring could be very beneficial. I think it would make sense to have these extra post season tournaments mostly regional and at 8 teams. I don’t like the idea of students on a #143 basketball missing another week of school to play in a tournament that pretty much no one cares about.

It would be a great trip! Women played at that facility a couple of years ago for the Thanksgiving tourney. Hotel right across the street great beach....spring break....what is not to like.

I actually thought the format of the short-lived "Vegas 16" (or "8" as it turned out) made sense. Pick a single destination where people like to go, tie in the hoops. (Personally, I hate Vegas--you'd have to pay me to go--but lots of people like it). They just executed poorly and it was clear the "names" they got to promote it, head up selection, etc (George Raveling was one, if I recall) really didn't care. This might just work for the CBI, and with the shrunken NIT, they might be able to get better teams. People forget that the CBI originally hoped to compete with the NIT, and for the first few years got a lot of good teams, including some that chose it over the NIT. My recollection is that the NCAA folks, with help from some of the P6 conferences, started making an informal effort to talk it down and discourage participation.
