Teams that have qualified for automatic bids to the NIT (and are unlikely, IMHO, to get an NCAA bid), with NET rank and record:
#48 Northern Iowa (25-6) (might get NCAA bid, but pretty unlikely) #129 Wright State (25-7) #184 Radford (21-11)
I wonder if all these tournaments--especially the CIT and CBI--will be played.

Add Colgate, 25-9 with a #115 NET, to the NIT field.

I saw somewhere that the NIT was talking about playing, but my guess is that none of these go forward this year. The NCAA will for the TV money.

If I had to bet, I’d say NIT is played. It probably generates enough TV money to pay for (or highly subsidize) the travel and lodging for the teams even in a year like this with no gate money. It’s a respectable tourney. I’d think most schools would pay something to play NIT for the experience, especially schools with young rosters that benefit from the NIT.
But, it is odd they haven’t announced anything.

I disagree about P conference teams opting out. I think those teams will be eager to play in a 16 team NIT in NY. Unless it’s a team with mostly one and dones and morale is just in the shitter. But I can’t think of any programs that fit that definition this year that will likely be invited to the NIT.
This will be a real kick in the pants to mid major teams that win their regular season but fall short in their conference tourneys. I think NIT will invite brand name schools over relatively unknown conference champs. With no CIT and maybe no CBI, a team like Cleveland State could lose a close final game in the conference tournament and have no post season.

That will likely be an interesting tournament, with potentially some big names/good teams in it.
