To qualify for the career leader board in three point percentage, one must have 170 attempts. Only 35 Titans meet that threshold. That surprised me at first, but when you think about it, this is only the 35th year of the three-point shot, and guys who were seniors when the shot was introduced, or in their first years as Titans this year, are unlikely to have taken 170 shots in one season. Also, three point shots were less common in the early days. (For example, Archie Tullos was an excellent three-point shooter, leading the MCC in 1987 at 48%. He was the Titans star and go-to player on offense. Yet he took just 131 threes in 28 games, and the next year--when he made 38%, still a very high percentage for the day--he took just 109 attempts in 30 games).
Several Titans were just a little shy of the 170 minimum attempts, such as Canonchet Neves (38% in 166 attempts), Michael Hamilton (36.2% in 163 attempts), EJ Harrelson (33.9% in 165 attempts) and Jarod Williams (30.3% in 165 attempts). I thought it interesting that Derrien King and Paris Bass each made 45 of 132 three point attempts in the Titan careers. It still pains me to see Number 2 on the list, just because his time should have been longer in Detroit.
Add to those just under qualifying is Noah Waterman, with 168 career attempts and a 44.0% success rate. If he'd taken those extra two attempts and missed them both, he'd be at 43.5%, #1 on the list. Assuming Noah returns in 2023, he'll be at or near the top of this list, probably after opening day.
