I didn’t even know they were leaving the Horizon! I’m not sure being in the MVC would help our long term prospects or fan base grow, but don’t we have both a recent and historical winning advantage over them?

I didn’t even know they were leaving the Horizon! I’m not sure being in the MVC would help our long term prospects or fan base grow, but don’t we have both a recent and historical winning advantage over them? Formal announcement of UIC’s departure was made just earlier today. UIC has won seven of the last 10 MBB games against the Titans. All time, UDM as a 33-22 edge. Membership in the MVC would certainly be better than the Horizon, but UDM wasn’t on their short list (most likely UDM didn’t formally indicate interest). If the MVC decides to expand to 14 schools in the future, most experts see Northern Kentucky, Milwaukee, and Wright State better positioned candidates than UDM for a variety of reasons. This YouTube video (prepared when Murray State was added to the Missouri Valley) is a really good analysis of what schools were likely on the MVC short list of expansion candidates, and why UIC was considered and later ultimately selected despite their rather weak men’s basketball resume: This analysis from the same source prepared when Loyola announced its departure to the A10 more specifically discusses the attributes that made UIC attractive to the MVC:

The only good news about losing everyone in our league that mattered is...now it doesn't matter anymore when a school leaves. I could care less who leaves our league at this point. The league is in a hopeless morass without any upward mobility. For years we had opportunity but (blame it on LeCrone, blame it on DePaul, blame it on Dayton, blame it on Butler, blame it on Valpo....) the MCC/Horizon wasted its opportunity to become an A-10 in the Midwest.
At this point, I just want to win this stinkin league we don't belong in anymore. And win it again and again and again until we become attractive to other leagues. That's our only "out". I'm not gonna lose sleep over losing UIC. It just gives our softball team a better chance to win an already-weak softball league.
I learned this a long time ago: we've gotta take care of ourselves. Clean up our own house and make it the most beautiful one on the block. All of our traditional rivals are long gone. It's time to step up and hit the damn ball out of the infield, at least...

My morning newspaper (Yeah, I still read the morning paper) has us as a 7 1/2 point favorite tonight. Tonight's the night - two in a row and continuing a winning streak that will extend through mid February!

Unrelated to UIC game, but I heard our Saturday game with IUPUI might be moved back to 3:30 pm tip. Also a chance the game still could be canceled, IUPUI has a combination of some players out due to Covid, a couple out with other health issues.

About 200 fans here at game time. Presentation to Antoine commemorating his breaking the school record for career points scored.

I agree totally. Before it's over, NKU will move from into D-1, stay awhile in the Horizon, and move on to the MVC. Our program has not only stagnated but has become less of a force even in just the last 10 years, much less over its full history.

Confirmed by TP, so we know it's true😄 I can think of one barely D1 level program we could play early next week, but apparently their coach is afraid of losing.🤣

The cameras have been moved. The Vitale and Titan logos are no longer upside down.
