How was the crowd or was there a crowd? I’d say maybe five or six hundred fans at best. Wright State brought 20 or so fans. The DeLaSalle promotion resulted in two representatives from the high school connecting with I believe three current students. I bet official attendance will be around 1500. Covid doesn’t help, but other schools in our league (e.g., Oakland) continue to be significantly more active on the marketing & promotions front. Need to do more and better going forward. So, it seems as it the titans cant give away tickets. In order to boost attendance the redwings would have a raffle for a free car. UofD should get in touch with a local dealership and have a promotion to give away a free car, the person must be present to win, and the vehicle should be given away at the end of the game.

Oakland collapsed in the second half and handed NKU the win on multiple clutch turnovers by Parrish, Moore, and Cain.

Big win! It's the result that matters. Yup big win doesn’t matter how stupid you are getting there. I would think after 4 years we would learn to keep our mouths shut and keep doing what got us there. Press did change it but I do not remember a TO to the press. We would just get it across and then sit on it until the clock was down then force it. That wasn’t how we built a 26 pt. Lead it was by passing and attacking. Well, a couple points. First, the press made a big difference. It didn't force a lot of turnovers, but we were taking 7-10 seconds of each possession to get across half court and then didn't have the offense in any kind of set or in any position to attack the basket. Essentially, we weren't getting into our set until about 10-15 seconds left on the clock, if that. It might have seemed we were laying back, but not really--we were operating on a short clock. Second, this is what Wright State does. On Friday, they were down by 11 to OU with 6:15 to play, and they won by 4. Last Sunday they trailed NKU by 18 at one point, and were still down 12 with 1:30 to play, and almost won, getting to within 2 points with 16 seconds left. They beat Oakland earlier this year by outscoring the Grizzlies 15-1 over the final 5 minutes. Earlier this year they trailed Cleveland State by 9 with under 4 minutes to play, and tied it before losing in the final seconds. They came from 11 down in the second half to beat Milwaukee. The important thing is that we held on and won. It was never even a one-possession game.

There are no style points in the HL's seeding formula. If we sweep next weekend and OU splits, we finish ahead of the team who declined to play us on February 15th. Also, if we sweep and YSU splits at NKU and WSU, then we finish ahead of them. If OU beats PFW and loses to CSU, then we finish 4th if we sweep as long as YSU loses one game next weekend.

One not-so-smart thing Antione Davis did with about a half minute to go was getting a technical for arguing when a personal foul was called on the Titans. Wright State got four free throws, missed two, cutting the lead to five. If they hit all four shots, it would have cut the lead to three points, a single possession.

What happened to the handshake line at Calihan? It looked like the Raiders were trying to catch the McNichols bus.

That said, when up 25 in the second half... it's not really an impressive thing to not let the other team get within 2 possessions. 😉 We got real tight for a bit there. I think our biggest win was when dude only went 2-4 from the FT line off AD's technical. He hits all 4 of those and we may have gotten even tighter. In the end it was another win... which was nice. I have 4 Buddy's coupons that will be put to good use.

Seems a bit like BS from the ref to me.

And here is your trivia stat of the day.
Detroit just beat Northern Kentucky and Wright State in back-to-back games. Both teams will finish with winning records. When was the last time the Titans won back to back games against teams that finished the year with winning records?
Well, last January 29-30 we beat Youngstown State in back-to-back games. YSU finished 15-12. Before that--and the last time we beat two different teams with winning records in back-to-back games, you have to go back to December 5th & 9th, 2015, when we beat Northeastern and Toledo. Northeastern finished 18-16, and Toledo finished 17-15.

Seems a bit like BS from the ref to me. I believe the ref was watching AD's reaction on that one very closely. I'd be surprised if that was AD's first reaction. Pretty sure the refs don't have it in for the Horizon's leading scorer for no reason. He screwed up there... no need to cover for him. After all, he had one of his best shooting games of the season. Without AD, we don't hold on to that win. If he'd have had a bit better shot selection, he may have hit 75% today. He didn't miss many open looks.

I curious what he must have said, and I strongly suspect that most refs would have turned and walked rather than whistled there.

I was at the game. AD definitely said something (immediately) and the ref T'd him up (immediately). There was a reaction from AD and it looked like the ref was waiting for it... probably because of something that he said or did earlier in the game.
Not saying he deserved it... just telling you what I saw. As someone who led his conference in technical fouls as a senior in high school... I'm a bit of an expert on these scenarios. 👍
