These last two games really embodied are season. If are shooting wasn't on we probably weren't going to win with are defense. NKU game we were getting are shots but guys were missing them. NKU played hard defense but we still were able to get open looks for shots when we move the ball around from what I saw. the refs were not the greatest but if you can't make your wide open three then it really doesn't matter. It was a winnable game. Hopefully most of the team will be back next year.
Also what would people think of try to get Patrick Baldwin jr? If that means getting a spot for his dad as a assistant coach or have some roll at UDM basketball would you be find with that or just having his son play only?

If Patrick doesn't go in the draft, I can't imagine that he'd join another mid-major. He goes in draft unless the scouts tell him he's become damaged goods, in which case he goes Big 10 (or similar) to re-establish himself. If we were Northwestern, I might be looking to add PBS as an assistant to get PBJ for a year.

The two we have look like they have the potential to get there but need to keep their heads up and keep practicing. Koka improved from last year to this year and since Mo wasn't on the team I don't have any baseline to compare to. Mo has a greater opportunity than Koka has at this point because of the amount of time left. Hopefully they both stay and are hungry enough to earn more of a role on this team.

I don’t want Baldwin Jr or Sr. Jr is too soft and Sr is a losing coach. Who needs them?

I don’t want Baldwin Jr or Sr. Jr is too soft and Sr is a losing coach. Who needs them? Sr. was a very respected and successful assistant coach before taking the job in Milwaukee. I imagine he'll be back in an assistant role as soon as he goes back to work. Jr. has been injury prone over the past couple of years, but I am sure the vast majority of programs in the country would take him. I can't think of a reason he would want to come to Detroit, but if he was interested I wouldn't tell him no. Like the Commissioner said, I think Pat Jr. goes to a high major, or at least an A10, WCC, MVC type of school, if he decides to return to college.

Nbadraft.net currently has Jr going 21st in the 2022 NBA Draft mock. One spot behind Malaki Branham and one spot in front of Bryce McGowens.
I'd not turn him away at the door. 😉

We have a long off season to diagnose what went wrong and where we look to be for the 22-23 season, but adding on to the points above... I'm also iffy about what our prospects are for next season, in line with 1983s comments. In the PRO column is that we should have a ton of continuity which is is something we've never had in MD's helm so far (for various reasons). That lack of gelling surely has cost us games over the past few years so hopefully that can be a big plus. BUT...this team did end up with an RPI of 230 was it? So we are returning alot of a team that was terribly mediocre both overall and ranked 7th in a pretty bad HL. I know we lost some games that we probably would have one, fair point, but they were home against bad HL teams so our RPI wouldn't have rocketed up from those. Now, if this team was an RPI in the 100-125 range and returning as much as we are then for sure there'd be cause for excitement. And as good as AD is most nights, the HL has had 4 years of playing against him and clearly haven't had an issue withering whatever he can throw at you especially when he's hot. Is he not making the rest of the team better? Is the scheme not maximizing all the players on the court? Are the players actually not of a caliber that we need to be conference favorites? I kinda think its all of the above. It's not a knock on AD, but he hasn't gone red hot and just carried and willed the team on a HL tourney run to even the semis much less a crack at the title game. Yes we beat the top teams in the HL this year and that shows we can run with anyone, well except for Oakland who continues to have our number. So we surely have a shot at things next year just like we did last year and this year. Odds on favorites? Nah, based on the cracks we've seen on this team and program just can't put money down on that at this point. Good season Titans, you battled hard and played as a team which was fun to see happen. The Titan Way even. Hit the weight room, get those shots up (and Coaches get started on next season starting today! Solid post. TTH. I haven't felt confident about the prospects for the next season since the end of the 2015-16 campaign. That team finished at 16-15, 9-9, and had won 7 of their last 11 games. On that roster we had several players who could come back the following season including Jenkins, Hogan, Blackshear, McFolley, AFS, Jarod Williams, and Matt Grant. Corey Allen had signed in the class of 2016 and the staff was working on filling the rest of the roster. I was feeling very optimistic about 2016-17. The transfer portal and extra year of eligibility keeps us from having too much roster certainty for next year. We've heard indications about who might be returning, but those things can certainly change. And while I'm sure we're active recruiting from the portal, that's hard to predict. I've got the feeling that we'll have a lot of questions right up until the end of summer again. Go Titans.

In between seasons, there are always pluses and minuses, knowns and unknowns. We have lots of skill. We need a tough physical player or two to complement our skilled guys. On the plus side, we have been able to develop Kyle into a solid, physical player at PG. He should improve even more next season as he assumes more responsibility. On our current roster, Phillips and/or Shaw could emerge next season with more experience and physical play. On the minus side, Noah battled injuries and Covid for a large part of the season. That hurt his development. He still has not played a full season of college basketball. Akec's durability is a question. He faded as his minutes increased. We did not have Phillips to spell him and Shaw's progress was inconsistent - even though I thought that we still should have played Shaw 4-5 minutes per game in order to develop him because he is by far the most athletic player on the roster. Finally, the failure of the Oduro project set us back. Playing in a postseason tournament could help players like Noah and Jeramy get some more playing time in before summer. Philips is simply going to have to rehab his way back to game shape. Same with Madut. We will be solid at guard and have the ability to bring Sonny Johnson Jr along at a comfortable pace. And DJ will be a solid player at forward.
That said, I know the coaches have been recruiting the JUCO ranks. And I know they are looking for a tough inside player and a big guard/forward from wherever they can find the right fit. Those needs are obvious to anyone who looks at our roster. And those openings could make us an attractive option for several good players.

Both of them have the potential to do that, I think. Injuries screwed up this year for Phillips, and I think Shaw basically had an adjustment period to D1, and hopefully we'll see the benefits of a year on this level next season. Sylla is the other question mark in my mind. Can he make the jump from spot player to rotation guy? It would help a lot if he could. It wouldn't surprise me if Coach Davis finds another transfer who comes out of relatively nowhere to have an excellent season, like Akec and Kuol the past two seasons.
