Quick re-cap on the Big Twelve 2017-18 season.
Despite some uncertainty early in the season, the Big 12 went the way it normally does, with Kansas winning the conference title and a bunch of Big 12 teams going to the Big Dance. The Jayhawks advanced all the way to the Final Four before becoming anther victim of the Juggernaut that was the Villanova Wildcats. Despite some early season hiccups it was another banner year (literally) for KU.
Texas Tech had a phenomenal year, finishing in second place in the conference and enjoying a nice tourney run. The foundation of the team was senior class recruited to Lubbock by Tubby Smith, but Coach Beard has added some nice pieces to the roster.
Bob Huggins coached WVU to another fine season, tying for second in the standings.
Kansas State had a nice run to the Elite Eight. Bruce Weber was rewarded with a contract extension.
TCU had an NCAA appearance and Jamie Dixon seems to have them on the right track, although they lose some talent next season.
Texas returned to the tournament, despite losing their leading scorer early in the season due to a cancer diagnosis.
OK State made the NIT quarters, despite being picked to finish last in conference at the start of the season. Their sixth place finish earned their coach Mike Boyton a contract extension through 2023-24.
Iowa State was really the only BAD team in the conference (as a loss to Milwaukee showed) but they put together a nice recruiting class and should bounce back.
Projections for next season for the Big 12 are up in the air, as several teams are waiting to hear from players who have declared for the draft without signing with an agent.
With ten solid programs and everyone playing each other twice, the Big 12 is perhaps the most competitive conference in the nation.

Some kudos to Kansas for a tough non-conference schedule not reliant on beating up weaklings at home. Only 2 true road games, but they're good ones--Arizona State and Kentucky. 3 tough neutral site games (including Michigan State), and 8 home games--but every one of those 8 won at least 20 games last year, and the list includes little ole' Villanova.
Michigan State on neutral court Louisiana (27-7 last year, NIT) Vermont (NIT last year) Preseason NIT Semis and Finals (two of Louisville, Marquette, Tennessee, on neutral floor) Stanford Wofford (21-13 last year) New Mexico State (2806, NCAA last year) Villanova South Dakota (26-7 NIT last year) @ Arizona State Eastern Michigan (22-13 last year) @ Kentucky

Kansas is thinking national championship next season. Got some good news recently with a player withdrawing from the NBA draft. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/23949250/lagerald-vick-kansas-jayhawks-returning-senior-season

More hype for Kansas from Jon Rothstein on Twitter.
Jon Rothstein Retweeted Rich Hollenberg
Kansas' projected second five --- Moore, Garrett, K.J. Lawson, De Sousa, McCormack --- could get an NCAA bid. Scary depth in Lawrence.

Jon Rothstein with his Big 12 Power Rankings.
Big 12 Offseason Power Rankings:
1. Kansas 2. Kansas State 3. TCU 4. West Virginia 5. Texas 6. Iowa State 7. Baylor 8. Texas Tech 9. Oklahoma 10. Oklahoma State
Familiar name at the top, but a couple of surprises with Kansas State and TCU in second and third.

Lon Kruger gets his fifth commitment for the class of 2019, fourth this month. Alondas Williams, a JUCO All American from Triton College, verbally committed to the Sooners. Good mix of high school and JUCO players in this class for Kruger.

Going to be interesting watching Kansas State for the next couple of years. After an Elite Eight season last year, the Wildcats are ranked in the top 25 in most preseason predictions and Bruce Webber just landed his second four star commitment in the class of 2019. Kansas State has spent a long time in KU's shadow, and while that isn't likely to change, they have been consistent since Webber came over after being fired by Illinois. www.suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2018/09/30/dajuan-gordon-curie-kansas-state/
