I always thought there should be a Titans men’s and women’s bowling team. I believe UDM was the host school for the NCAA championships in that sport a couple years ago. The Detroit area is somewhat of a hotbed for bowling and I’m guessing it’s a pretty low cost sport to sponsor. Youngstown St.’s men keglers are currently ranked 7th in the nation. I think they may be the only team in the Horizon currently sponsoring that sport.

Solomon Callaghan, a point guard from Ohio, commits to Wright State for the class of 2023. That's their third commitment for the class of 2023, and all three are guards.
Solomon had recent offers from Akron and Youngstown State, and a bunch of D2 offers.

Amari Davis, who averaged 8.5 ppg for Wright State this past season, has entered the portal. Davis started out at Green Bay, averaging about 16.5 ppg during his freshman and sophomore years in the frozen tundra. He used that sophomore season to transfer up to Missouri, where he scored 9 points per game in his lone season as a Tiger. He transferred from there to Wright State and after a season in Dayton, he's ready to move again.
That will be four schools in five years for Davis.

Wright State got a commitment from 2024 shooting guard Alex Bruskotter from Shelby, Ohio. He had a solid offer list of MAC schools.

Just in case you think it's just us and the NCAA this year. Tanner Holden does not yet have a waiver for Wright State.

Holden played 3 yrs at Wright State and one at Ohio State. He must have not graduated if he now requires a waiver to return to WSU.

Holden played 3 yrs at Wright State and one at Ohio State. He must have not graduated if he now requires a waiver to return to WSU. That's probably another negative aspect of portal madness that goes unreported: the impact on academics. I imagine that there wasn't much interest among the OSU folks to make sure Holden was on track for graduation. The focus was probably just to make sure that he was eligible for the second semester, and even that probably faded as it became clear that he wasn't going to be playing or contributing much for the Buckeyes. They had no real connection or interest in him, and probably were already planning on what to do with his roster spot by the time conference play started. That's not unique to Ohio State; I am sure most high major programs take that attitude towards mid major players who transfer up and can't make an impact. The ironic thing is, Holden's goal right now it so play his fifth year of college basketball with the Raiders. If he had never transferred, he'd be preparing to do just that, and probably already a college grad. But, hey, he can now tell people he played Big Ten basketball in college. And maybe he got some NIL money last year.
