Daytona CC guard Ayinde Sprewell eventually signed with Western Kentucky. He won the dunk contest at the team's season kick-off event for fans, making him a bit of a fan favorite, but he played in just 3 of WKU's first 7 games, and then asked for his release, looking to transfer for more playing time. If he tries to stay D-I, he'll only have 1 more semester to play. He'll probably end-up NAIA. Once you figure out you're not going to the NBA, I suppose a lot of kids would prefer to play at that level than sit on end of a D-I bench. Word was that Sprewell didn't play defense. Good call on Sprewell going the NAIA route: From the Twitterverse: Verbal Commits @verbalcommits 35m35 minutes ago Former Western Kenctucky G Ayinde Sprewell is transferring to St. Thomas (NAIA). After getting kicked off of the Texas Tech team, Justin Jamsion is reportedly transferring to MidAmerica Nazaren University, an NAIA school. What a fall: 13 months ago he was weighing offers between Texas Tech and Pittsburgh.

Iakeem Alston taking an official visit to St. Bonnie in late September. Alston says goodbye to St. Bonnie. And apparently there is still confusion about what his name actually is. From the Twittersphere: Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 3m3 minutes ago Lakeem Alston is leaving St. Bonaventure. Wilburn's decision to walk on at Ball State seemed curious to me, and apparently things didn't work out there for him. He is reportedly transferring from Ball State to a junior college.

Maybe I missed this previously, and maybe we even talked about it and I forgot, but Novian Cherry has committed to Savannah State. Of course, with Cherry, you really can't be sure until the season starts. :-) www.hbcugameday.com/2015/07/novian-cherry-savannah-state-meac-basketball.htmlNote: I had read in a cryptic tweet a while back that Cherry only had one year of D1 eligibility left. That's not what my previous understanding was, but Verbal Commits lists him as a senior for Savannah State in 2015-16.

Jon Rothstein predicts Yante Maten to one of 5 "breakout players" in the SEC. He showed a lot promise last year. Had a couple of very good games against Kentucky.

This kid had lot of offers from upper-mid major schools like WKU and UD. PS - I think he's a junior this fall. VC is basing it off his HS graduation year of 2012, but he took a year off (enrolled in prep school that was pretty much fraudulent, I believe).

Well, I guess it's a good thing we didn't get Mory Diane, a guy who was for a time a top Titan target and who, it was rumored, we just about had in the bag. Some may remember that he became academically ineligible after his first semester at Buffalo, and so had to sit out the MAC portion of last year's schedule in the spring. Now it is reported he has been suspended from the team after he and two teammates--including MAC POY Justin Moss-- were caught stealing $650 from a dorm room (they had a summer job to change smoke detectors, and so had a master key they used for entry). www.buffalonews.com/sports/college-basketball/ubs-moss-two-basketball-teammates-in-limbo-following-theft-20150810

Aleer Leek, originally a 2014 Titan target who took an additional prep year and moved to the class of 2015, committed to UMKC for 2015.
