Coaching legend Lefty Driesell passed away at the age of 92. Known for his 17 year run at Maryland, he's also the only coach to win 100 games at four separate schools. He was a heck of a coach, and quite a character. The Washington Post has a nice article on him, particularly informative to those who might not be familiar with his career. Rest in peace, Coach. www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2024/02/17/lefty-driesell-basketball-maryland-dead/

His 1972-73 team was the opponent at the opening or the Robins Center at Richmond my freshman year. They were a machine. We had a decent team, we beat eventual NIT champion Virginia Tech at home in February, but Maryland crushed us by 30 without breaking a sweat.

Was that the Maryland team with Tom McMillan and Len Elmore? Yes. I think John Lucas was a freshman.
