Kampe tweets: “Now that the MSU gig is out our hard working Sports information office will be getting you the complete non conference schedule on Tuesday July 30th. And it’s a tough one with lots of big names & tough neutral site games.”

Also in the article was a summary of our offseason (& I didn't make this up, it's actually in the article):
Elsewhere in the Horizon League, Detroit Mercy, under second-year coach Mike Davis, has yet to release its nonconference schedule or its roster. The Titans were 11-20 last season and are ineligible for postseason play in 2019-20 because of poor cumulative grades, dating back to previous head coaches. Detroit Mercy is appealing.

I had to read this a second time slowly because the first time I read it, I thought that Oakland had defeated the Troy Athens JV team by 43.

Oakland lost its second game, 84-79 to Oiakas Nafplioy. Oiakas has been pretty good, I guess, in recent years--they moved from the C league to the B League last year, and this year to the A-2 league, the second best in Greece. Oakland led by 15 after three quarters but was outscored 30-10 in the final quarter. OU's uncertain juco, Daniel Oladapo, had 17 points and 8 rebounds, and Xavier Hill-Maas had 13 and 10.

Oakland lost the 3rd and final game of its Greece trip today, 84-56 to a team called the "Cretan Kings," or, to use their full name, the "Rethymno Cretan Kings B.C." The Kings play in the Greek Basketball League, which is the top league in the country.
So OU loses 2 of 3, Although top Greek competition is pretty good and we shouldn't put too much weight on these exhibitions, it's not a good sign. The main benefit, of course, is the extra practice time, and playing against pretty good competition, as OU did, is worthwhile.

That's strange. Why so late? Newman wasn't nearly as good for OU as I thought he might be, but he wasn't bad, averaging almost 23 minutes and over 9 points per game. With Cumberland leaving, the #2 guard spot was presumably his (point guard Norris leaving, and end of bench shooting guard Stan Scott leaving, also left vacant backcourt minutes). They've got two freshmen guards coming in, but neither look like top players that are definitely going to shove Newman aside. Plus, unless he's graduating in 3 years, or gets a waiver, he'll have to sit, thus losing a year of eligibility since he sat a year when he transferred from George Mason to OU. One speculates if there were academic or other issues that arose late. Or maybe they've got some hotshot grad transfer coming in late. Or maybe, like Isaiah Brock, he just decided he doesn't care anymore about D1 ball. He could play immediately at an NAIA school, still have a full athletic scholarship, and not have the rigors of the D1 athlete's life. Anyway, it's very interesting, and another blow to an OU squad that looked like a top HL contender. You were right about the NAIA thing. Newman lands at Wiiliam Penn.

Today Xavier Hill Maas let the team with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

The Grizzlies finished with an 83-51 win over Panathinaikos under 21 team. Apparently Hill-Maas, Brechting, and Maddox all sat out. Panathinaikos’s pro club is like theNY Yankees of Greek hoops, but I have no idea if that extends to their junior team.
Freshman Yusuf Jihad had 29 points and 8 rebounds, playing almost the entire game.
