Northwestern Ohio has offered Pickerington Central F Juan Elmore - It's his first offer Though we haven't offered, Elmore is clearly on our radar, and seems (at least from what I've read down here in Central Ohio) like a good, hard-working kid. Unfortunately, most folks slot him as a D2 or marginal D1 talent. It would be great to see him have a huge senior year and become a legit, first tier mid-major recruit, although on a Pickerington team loaded with talent, it might be hard to stand out.

I am constantly impressed by the amount of basketball talent that comes out of Pickerington, Ohio lately.

Scout has released its latest rankings of the top 300 players in the Class of '18. Always subjective, always take with some salt.
Michigan kids: 67. Marcus Bingham 100. Brandon Johns 122. Gabe Brown 137. David DeJulius 150. Trevion Williams 165. Thomas Kithier 170. Foster Loyer 214. Duane Washington
The Titans reportedly offered six of those 8--all but Bingham and Loyer. All of them have committed elsewhere except for Duane Washington.
And commits to mid-majors--at this point all commitments are merely verbals:
55. Tygar Campbell - DePaul (i know DePaul is Big East, but aren't they really a middie?) 66. Carte'Are Gordon - St. Louis 68. AJ Green - Northern Iowa 95. Jaelen Llewellyn - Princeton 106. Trey Woodbury - UNLV (Aren't they more of a high major than DePaul?) 110. Spencer Freeman - Harvard 134. Rodgerick Brown - Wichita State (Is the AAC high major or mid major?) 181. Greg Floyd - Long Beach State 196. Dylan Swingle - Duquesne 210. Taurus Samuels - Dartmouth 247. Jared Bynum - St. Joe's 260. Kihei Clark - Cal-Davis 289. Jake Wocjik - Siena
Of course, a majority of the 300 have made no commitments.
Also notice the three Ivy commits. I've been saying for some time that the Ivy is going to becoming a top mid-major conference, possibly even a dominant one, as new presidents are using their gargantuan endowments to provide free tuition for most students from families with incomes up to about $100K (effectively eliminating the old Ivy disadvantage of not awarding athletic scholarships), and to upgrade their facilities.
Some unusual high majors also scored well. Mississippi State has the #17 prospect, and also #126. Auburn has a verbal commitment from the #18 ranked player. Penn State and Northwestern both have a couple of Top 200 commits.

247 Composite top 300 rankings released this past week show Michiganders:
62. Brandon Johns 69. Marcus Bingham 104. Gabe Brown 116. Foster Loyer 139. David DeJulius 143. Trevion Williams 161. Thomas Kithier 192. Taylor Currie 253. Duane Washington 262. Lamar Norman 263. Davion Williams
The Titans reportedly offered all of these players save Loyer and Currie. All have now verbally commited except for Washington and Norman.
Also on the list is Ohio's EJ Williams at 297. The Titans have made some recruiting efforts there but no offer, and may no longer be active.

Duane Washington Two years ago, Scout had Brandon Johns ranked #44 in the nation and Marcus Bingham was nowhere to be found. Bingham really improved his stock quickly.

Two players the Titans have scouted but not offered committed today: guard Traveon Maddox to Oakland and guard Gary Solomon to Long Island.
Steve Bell notes that this reflects the depth in Michigan's 2018 class, as several recent years both would have been top 10 players in Michigan. Losing these two isn't a big deal--we hadn't offered either, as noted--but it emphasizes that we need a good class in a year in which Michigan has a lot of depth. And most of the top 10 players have already committed.

Another name to keep an eye on - because he's a college level player who's tall and is now in Michigan - is Hank Schemmel, who played his prep hoops in Maryland the past three years and has enrolled in the Clarkston School District this month. Clarkson is apparently forming a superteam and Schemmel wanted to jump on board along with transfer Thomas Kithier, a Michigan State commit

I had heard about Kithier transferring to Clarkston. Kind of surprised me, but it's certainly a different time. Lots more player movement in college and the pros so I guess it makes sense that it would increase in the high school ranks, too. On the plus side, at least Kithier is staying in state and Hank is coming from Maryland. www.theoaklandpress.com/sports/20170814/dakotas-thomas-kithier-enrolled-at-clarkston

Duane Washington will transfer from GRC and enroll at Sierra Canyon HS in Cali for his senior year Seems foolish. Washington received an offer from UCLA. His ranking certainly does not reflect his offers.

According to Deante "Spider" Johnson (on PrephoopsMichigan), the 6-foot-8 Detroit Edison forward has existing offers from Northern Kentucky, Cleveland State, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Oakland, and interest from VCU, Miami-Ohio, Temple, New Mexico, and Michigan. Although he was on my earlier wish list, he apparently has not been seriously contacted or offered by U of D

Particularly with him being a Detroit Edison kid.

I hadn't seen this, but PrepHoops Oregon reported earlier this summer that Khalil Chatman, son of Assistant Coach Canaan Chatman and brother of Kameron Chatman, has indeed verballed to Detroit. www.prephoops.com/2017/07/way-early-6a-top-10/. Chatman, a 6-7, 3-star forward, was First-Team All-Conference in the Portland Interscholastic League last year. I've more or less assumed Chatman was coming to Detroit and that's why there wasn't much recruiting buzz about him. Of course, who knows what that even means these days? Still, not a done deal, but definitely promising to get some type confirmation.

Of course, that's the University of Detroit, so it might actually not be us.....

Seems unlikely that Chatman would have made a verbal commitment to Detroit and none of the local folks would have reported it. For what it's worth, his social media profile doesn't give any indication that he's a Titan commit (not that social media posts are definitive). Would be nice to see him commit soon and sign in November.
