I love the idea of adding Mike Edwards to Lacy James in the class of 2015. From the Twittersphere:

Thanks to TJ for this clip of Lacey James hitting the game winner in the Grand Rapids Fall League semi finals (which is something I did not know existed until last night).

Catching up on recruiting, which I've pretty much ignored during the season, I see Steve Bell wrote this on January 6: "6-8 senior Lacey James is playing as well as any forward in the state."
And he wrote in late December: "It's the age old tragedy of man, we never quite appreciate what we have unless it's lost. James lost the game in the summer when he was unable to play. Now he's back on the court and embracing the it like never before, taking his performance to the next level as Wayland topped Forest Hills Northern and then previously unbeaten and Class A Top 10 Hudsonville. He was aggressive, assertive playing with physicality and fire, and is now doing it above the rim -- driving and dunkings, catching alley-oops. Wayland pulled away from Hudsonville when James went at the Eagles' own D1 recruit Brent Hibbitts on seven straight trips, scoring on six of them save when he missed a jumper. A true college 4 at 6-8, 220, LJ is one of the top available and qualified forward recruits not just in Michigan but the entire Midwest."
Unfortunate we lost him. I assume our docs have real concerns, and note he wasn't allowed to play AAU this summer, but it seems a bit odd as they're lettin' him play HS.

And Bell tweeted yesterday: "Word of Wayland senior LJ James' big-time senior season has reached the East Coast and the ACC."
Coulda been ours.

Here's an interesting news story on Lacey James. It appears that after the Mayo Clinic finally cleared him to play, Detroit still wanted to run its own tests, and "after months of tests already, that was the last thing LJ wanted. He decommitted from U of D [editor's note - NO MERCY!] and reopened his recruitment." So it sounds like it was James's decision to look elsewhere rather than undergo more testing. I wonder if the same happened with other schools and that's why he didn't pull many offers. It seems like the scouts love him. I still would have liked to see him as a Titan, but I think the Titans' position was entirely reasonable. Though I can understand James's frustration, and a "no more testing" attitude, its the Titans who would suffer the bad PR, the potential legal liability, and the simple shock, horror, and sense of responsibility in a Hank Gathers-type situation. I hope James has a good career at Rider and, more importantly, that his health does hold up. fox17online.com/2015/07/15/a-hardwood-heart-waylands-james-perseveres-finds-hoops-home/

I understand that he might have been tired of tests, but simply refusing seems a bit short sighted. Best of luck and health to him at Rider.
