We can use this thread to track the senior seasons of 2015 Titan commits Josh McFolley and Gerald "Freaky G" Blackshear, both from Detroit Western. McFolley is one of the top shooters in the state. Blackshear is a 6-9 athletic power forward with plenty of upside.
Welcome aboard!

Kind of funny that Verbal Commits has the McFolley commit but not Blackshear.

From TJ Kelly of the scouting service IPS Hoops a year ago: "2015 pf Gerald Blackshear, jr. (Mt. Clemens, MI./Michigan Hurricanes 16u) Good length, athletic, good motor, rebounds at the rim and out of his area, moves well, plays in the post and from the near mid-range." ipsbasketball.com/gerald_blackshear"6' 2015 combo guard Josh McFolley (Mt. Clemens, MI./D1 Nation 17u) Crafty, left-handed scorer who can light it up from the perimeter. While it's not pretty he has a quick and efficient style of scoring on three levels with improving athleticism. He has a solid floater game and his defense is starting to pick up as he gains strength." ipsbasketball.com/josh_mcfolleySteve Bell (Bankhoops) offered this appraisal of McFolley this summer, at the UD Camp: "He's taken his game to the next plane as an explosive driver and finisher. That's convenient, as McFolley was already the most prolific streak shooter in the 2015 class. Gets separation whether for jumper space, or past his man. Skilled and smart enough to play the point, and defensively can shut down the spot on the other end. Horizon or MAC guard for sure." bankhoops.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=18&Itemid=67&limitstart=10

Kind of funny that Verbal Commits has the McFolley commit but not Blackshear. I noticed that. Kind of strange since both guys committed at almost the same time. Of course, Verbal Commits has a lot to track; there have been times I emailed them to let them know about commits at Texas Tech and DePaul. Blackshear's page is full of congratulatory posts and his retweets of announcements about the commitments, so it's probably just a matter of time before VC makes the change.

I look for him to have a really big senior season. And I give him a lot of credit for recognizing the opportunity he has at U of D.

I think they are both on the way up. I'm really curious where Bell and Kelly would rank them now in the class.

Bankhoops on Blackshear and McFolley commitments - I italicized stuff that sounds like a particularly good fit for UD:
This also answers one of my questions: Bell now ranks him in the top 10 in Michigan's class of '15. He had him at #24 a year ago.

Nothing like having a friend on the team who knows your game, and vice versa.

A new site has just started, prephoopsmichigan.com. It's a subscription based site that reveals very little info for free. They rank the top 125 in Michigan for the class of 2015 (as of 10/13/14) with our guys ranked as follows:
McFolley #10 James #13 Blackshear # 16

In addition, 6deepbasketball.com also ranks the class of 2015 in Michigan. The list is not dated, but appears to be fairly recent (although our 2 most recent verbals are not noted). These ranking are a bit different from others I've seen with guys like Perkins, and Brechting falling into the 20 range. Our guys are listed at:
McFolley #8 Blackshear #13 James #21

Thanks for the information, TJ.
I'll be interested in seeing the top player rankings right before the season starts, but generally speaking, it looks like we have a solid class of players ranked by most to be in aat least the top 15.
