Could Corey transfer back and not lose a year of eligibility? If JoJo Anderson, who I mentioned earlier today in the 2019 recruiting thread, can play 2 years at Northern Arizona, transfer to Nevada, sit out his transfer year, then decide to transfer again, and still have 2 years left to play and be eligible immediately, with a waiver, then Corey should be able to do the same

Dustin Kerns moves from Presbyterian to Appalachian State. Another former Titan recruit, Corey Hightower, loses his head coach.

So the WOTS is Fred Hoiberg to Nebraska, Buzz Williams to Texas A&M. Is Nebraska really a better job than Iowa State? Is A&M a better deal that Va.Tech? I can see the latter, because history suggest that A&M is willing to spend moonshot money to get the coaches they want, but even then... Buzz left Marquette because it was too much of a pressure cooker. What would A&M be like if they paid him Coach K/Izzo/Calipari money? And he'd be leaving the ACC. And the Hoiberg thing... again, maybe Nebraska is opening the vault, but basically, I don't get it. Nebraska has no history, football is king, it's not a great recruiting market. Hoiberg was winning 25 games a year in the Big 12 before going NBA. Can he take the final step to a Final Four at Nebraska?
We'll see if these rumors are true.

While we're on the topic, Texas A&M has made the Sweet 16 two of the last 4 years. That's more than Michigan State, Arizona, Indiana, UCLA, Louisville, Ohio State, Connecticut, and a host of other college hoops nobility, and as many as they had reached in the previous 45 years. What are they doing firing Billy Kennedy?

I have the feeling that Chris Beard was headed to UCLA if they had lost today. Still might happen, but it would be strange to leave a team you just took to the Final Four. I think Roy Williams did it, but he went to North Carolina and he was always a Carolina guy.

I was suggesting we go after Beard back in early 2016. Turns out we wouldn't have gotten him--would've had to move the year before, in 2015, and he might have stayed just 1 year (as he did at UALR, the job he took in the spring of 2015). He won 30 games in his year at UALR. Beard's a Texas Tech guy, but UCLA can offer a lot--money, facilities, rep, locale--and he could go.

Looks like one coaching change that won't be happening is John Calipari leaving Kentucky to go to UCLA. UK announced that they had reached a long term contract with Cal that will allow him to "finish his career at Kentucky". There had been rumors that UCLA was pursuing him.
Edit: Looking at Cal's record today, I noticed he has been at UK for ten years and won one national title and five conference championships, winning 78% of his conference games. By comparison, during Tubby Smith's ten years at UK, he won one national championship, five conference championships, and 80% of his conference games. Tubby also took the 'Cats to the NCAA tournament every year he was head coach, while Cal has an NIT first round loss in his tenure. Based on commentary over the past several years, you would think the difference between the two would be a lot greater. Of course, the big contrast between the two is in recruiting, where Cal regularly brings in top 3 classes and plenty of five star recruits. John is almost always the champion of Signing Day.
