Anderson's last five years at Arkansas including three NCAA tournament appearances and an NIT. Won two NCAA tournament games. That seems very good, considering the conference they are in. Sidney Moncrief, Ron Brewer, and Marvin Delph aren't walking through that door.

Buffalo loses Nate Oates to Alabama. Great move for him. We'll see how it works out for Bama.

UNLV hired TJ Otzelberger. Not really sure if that is an upgrade from Marvin Menzies, particularly with the number of current players leaving the Rebel program.

I'm not having many positive thoughts right now about this one, so that's all for now. Wow, that all was quick. From Buffalo's standpoint, by the way, while I'm sure they hate to lose Oats, they're now owed $500K or more by Oates (which I am sure Alabama will pay) (His prior contract before the extension he got 2 wks ago called for a $500K buyout if he left after this past season. But it might have gone up--that prior extension had a $1 million buy out if he left the year he signed it). They were going to pay Oats $837K per year, and they'll probably find a new guy for about $500K, which would still be at or near the top of the MAC. So they just saved $2 million or more. Which can go a long way to helping the program if they can find another good coach. Of course, that's a huge if--but most folks thought they couldn't replace Hurley, either.

U of Tennessee women's basketball has fired Holly Warlick, who went to the NCAA tournament all seven years since replacing Pat Summit. No matter the gender, it is never easy following a legend.

Also, this was a great time for Oats to leave. He's losing his three best players after this season, and might not be this hot again.

The latest speculation on Arkansas - Houston that I've read is Eric Musselman to Houston if Sampson leaves for Arkansas.

I'm not having many positive thoughts right now about this one, so that's all for now. There's a little bit more to the whole situation that fueled my initial response, but at the end of the day, Oates is free to advance his career and the other stuff and community really doesn't matter. I seriously hate what college basketball has become. Coaches and players showing no loyalty, as the off season has become a glorified free agency period with the rich teams raiding the small programs. The simple pleasure of rooting for the little guy or your tiny alma mater is becoming more and more difficult for me. The investment of time and emotion is becoming a huge waste of time and energy because the coaches and players you're cheering for just don't care...

^ what scout said is spot on. I really don’t know if our program could survive losing Davis this spring. It would be so deflating after we finally have some reasons to be optimistic. I’m pretty sure I’ll walk away if coach leaves.

^ what scout said is spot on. I really don’t know if our program could survive losing Davis this spring. It would be so deflating after we finally have some reasons to be optimistic. I’m pretty sure I’ll walk away if coach leaves. First, if you go back to page 1 of this thread, you'll see some very interesting posts by motorcitysam that relate to current events. Apr 3, 2015: Shaka Smart leaves VCU for Texas. Apr 6, 2015: It is being reported that Avery Johnson has agreed to become the Alabama head coach. The hire kind of surprises me, but I think Avery is a good coach and will likely do well there. Apr 7, 2015: VCU hires former Shaka Smart assistant Will Wade to replace Smart. Wade spent the past two seasons as head coach at Chattanooga. Apr 9, 2015: Bobby Hurley to Arizona State. Will that impact Nick Perkins and his commitment to Buffalo? Lots of people are going to be watching that closely. Apr 11, 2015: Nate Oats is taking over as head coach at Buffalo, so the Michigan kids on the roster are probably staying around. Second, I know we're all a bit shell-shocked from the last 6 years. And many more of us are optimistic for the future because of Coach Davis. While I can't rule anything out 100% now, I'm pretty confident that we'll all be here rooting our second Coach Davis team on to more victories and to an NCAA tourney berth in the 2019-20 season.

Kyle Smith is hired away from San Francisco to take the head coaching job at Washington State. I think WSU is one of the toughest high major jobs in the country. Ernie Kent, who got Oregon to a couple of Elite Eight appearances among his five Big Dance appearances with Oregon, never got close to a winning season at five years with the Cougars.

If the job at Northern Arizona opens up then Tracy Dildy will take the job. Isiani will go with him and be immediately eligible because he is a foreign player and would be transferring to a school located in a time zone west of his current school. Deal has been done for weeks. A guy wearing a Golden Grizzlies T-shirt told me at the Horizon League tourney when I was buying a hot dog.
