I don't think we need to concern ourselves with Williams. He's not coming back to Michigan unless UM or MSU offer.

Here's an interesting name for you guys - Tariq Woody. He is originally from Novi and played last season as a freshman at D2 Wheeling Jesuit and has decided to transfer. Now the key numbers: 6’9", 250#, ranked 3rd overall in D2 FG% at 64.2%; 12.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg, in 22.1 min/g. If I remember correctly, Commissioner mentioned his name over a year ago as someone we could have interest in. Of course, D2 to D1 transfers have to sit a year, so he wouldn't help next season From last spring: Woody signs with CWU - Central Washington University I thought Woody would'vesigned with a D1 school. Maybe CWU has a specific major that interests him.

Glenbard West’s Evan Taylor, who orginally signed with SIU but was back on the open market following the coaching change, will now be headed to Lehigh. The 6-6 senior wing took a visit to Lehigh last weekend.

Signing period starts at midnight. I've spent the past few hours looking around the internet - transfers/high school players/everywhere you can imagine. I've got nothing, so far. Either we have nothing yet, or Davis has players in witness protection with no access to internet/phone/etc The more I think about it, I'd take both Northwestern transfers, the big man Benson and the PG Ash. Maybe normal sit out transfer G Wade would work too (that would be a great start along with other JUCO/High School players). Like I told PC yesterday, with Davis we probably have to stop thinking about recruiting the way we have in the past and expect the unexpected as far as players and timing.

Hopefully we'll get some idea in the next few weeks as to what is going on - is anyone leaving? and at least a few of the names who are filling our many open scholarships (almost half the team!). It's like the season ended and it's been dead silence, not even a crumb of player info has been leaked. Maybe that means the coaches and players are just hard at work and we'll be pleasantly surprised. At any rate, they don't always make it easy to be a fan of this team sometimes

Doesn't look like there's a lot of 1st day action anywhere. It's a month long signing period, and hoops has never had the kind of rush to sign that seems to mark football. Lots of players--and coaches--I'm sure wait for the top guys to commit and then start shaking things out.

Probably will take longer than normal with the new NCAA rules about players being able to return to college after declaring for the draft, even after signing with an agent.

Has way more to do with the transfers now.

Stable coaching situation, as Jim L is not likely to get fired and not likely to be poached for another opportunity. Good staff in place with veteran assistant Pooh Richardson to help Beverly's development. Best of luck to him.

If I recall from last summer, Coach Davis has his own timetable for announcing recruits. Last season, he waited until September to announce most of his recruiting class as a group even though he had many in the fold and on campus weeks before that announcement.
I agree with Sam about the ripple effect. There are more college players declared for the draft than there are open draft spots when you account for 10-15 players from Europe and Asia being possible selections. We've already seen several players enter the transfer portal and then change their minds; e.g., Amauri Hardy at UNLV. Then, there are players like Kerry Blackshear, Jr. from Va Tech who have entered the transfer portal and declared for the NBA draft.
