Is it possible Ernie is coming here as one of the assist. coaches and Trey is transfering to UD. Ziegler and Jackson would be two acs that could recruit very well.

I am not so sure about dad. He did a very poor job at CMU. He was 75-111 in six years, with his best season being 15-15. Then there is this: and this: www.hustlebelt.com/2012/3/14/2870951/cmu-fires-ernie-zeiglerMaybe he would be a better assistant than a head coach. As for Trey, I was never impressed with him (compared to other h.s. all-american) in the few games I saw him play, but he would be a welcome addition to the roster. I wonder what the NCAA rules/committee say about eligibility when following your dad 2 years in a row.

maybe he would but we would still need a SOLID x's and o's guy. someone who knows how to nurture and develop the talent a teacher. a mickey barrett type. we don't need a staff full of recruiters. i don't think that guy is jackson...at least not yet. i know its not zeigler.

Remember the Macs and Zigs are close friends and have worked together before. We could be the nepotism cap of the world. It would be like working your butt off and never getting anywhere only one day realize that everyone around you has the same last name.

this is classy. this is what we should always do. this is what izzo should do:
“We will assist Trey in finding the best situation for him to reach his goal both academically and athletically,” Pitt coach Jamie Dixon said in a statement. “He's a great kid, hard worker and good player. We thank Trey for his contribution to our program over the last year and wish him much success in the future.”
but then izzo's a big flake despite his basketball iq

ill take ernie if trey comes with him Me, too. I like the idea of at least one of our assistant coach hires having head coach experience. Ernie was an assistant at Cody in the PSL, and hopefully retains some of those Detroit high school contacts. He was an assistant with Ben Howland at Pittsburgh and UCLA. If the earlier post about him getting some of the top ranked recruiting classes in the MAC is correct, that would be an added plus.

Sam, I'm with you in that this is a very big concern. Every time I login in and see a new post on this thread, I get excited to think that someone has signed with us but with every passing day, I am losing hope that we may not get that impact JUCO. I had heard that last week both Onwenu and Djambo were signing be end of the week and now it's a week later and thing are just getting quiter.
It may very well turn out that the Invisible 3 (Our big three JUCOs from last year) will need to step up and make a big impact for us to have another 20 win season...

The hype around trey is great but who does he replace? I think Anton is better, Calliste is better,CB&Ray. Is he better than Juan or Evan,Probably not? I do think Ernie is a good recruiter but his kids were not graduating. Does it matter who comes if we are still in the HL? Sounds like Loyola and Valpo want out. Why are we still in?

If Trey comes, he will have to sit out a year, so he won't be competing for time and shots with Jason and Ray. Is he better than Evan and Juwan? I would say yes. Trey averaged 16 pts and 7 rebounds in 32 minutes per game his sophomore year with CMU. Nothing I have seen from Anton, Juwan, or Evan (or Jason for that matter) makes me think they are better than that.
Ernie's players might not have graduated at CMU, but I don't think we have that problem at U of D.
No matter what conference we are in, we need to be able to get the best players we can, so I say, yes, it matters who comes here.

Hyperion, I am stressed (as much as I get stressed about sports) about our recruiting class. I know we're still almost two weeks away from the signing period, but with West committing to Nevada and only silence from the other guys we're looking at, I'm a little bit worried. I won't panic yet, but I'm nervous. :-)

we have a commit... Andrew Thompson from utica class of 2012 he will be a preferred walk-on While we do thank you for the info, I'm not sure a preferred walk-on is what we had in mind. OTOH, that would suggest they're pretty sure we're going to sign a couple guys, or they'd just offer him, right? Detroit has generally been pretty quiet about verbal commits the last couple years, so that gives me some hope even as I share others' concerns.
