He was third team all Macomb County last year (same as Tome Ivesaj). I'd look for about the same impact, maybe a touch more. In any case, Welcome Andrew! It's a team sport. I look forward to you making me eat those words.

Brundidge and Wilson didn't sign until June of last summer. Calhoun would have been a nice addition to next seasons team.

Can someone clue me in on what happened with Calhoun? I was excited when we signed him. As Indy knows, I continue to hope we develop the City of Indianapolis as a source of basketball talent.
I was expecting him to be on the roster this past season, but then I found out he was not coming and was going to one of the IUPU schools.

Calhoun signed with IPFW and was a medical redshirt this season while recovering from knee surgery. He had to pay his own tuition this year as IPFW had no scholarships available in July. He will be on full scholarship next season with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

sam, we basically told him to take a hike we don't have room for you After he signed the LOI? After we offered him a scholarship and he accepted? Was there any reason given? What kind of senior year did he have?

What kind of senior year did he have? Detroit claimed Calhoun failed to meet their admission requirements but signed Brundidge a few days prior and Wilson a few days later. Calhoun exceeded NCAA academic requiremements yet supposedly failed to meet UDM standards. Calliste failed to meet NCAA academic requirements but it was all gravy meeting UDM standards. Interesting how that works...... isn't it? Detroit probably won't be able to recruit around the Indy Metro Area for a while.

I believe in the case of Calliste his test scores were very good and he passed all required courses, was accepted into UD and enrolled and started classes. We then received notification from the NCAA that the basketball factory was not fully accredited. Didn't Calhoun sustain an injury and was it basketball related? Was he doing the necessary things to prepare to be a Titan and contribute?

Calhoun played his senior season with an injury to his knee which required surgery in April. He was ranked around 20 in Indiana for the class of 2012. Indiana had 50 prospects accept D-I scholarship offers in 2012. He has a high basketball IQ with good hands and solid footwork. Warren Central is a real school with nearly 4,000 students while QEA is a glorified AAU All Star team with 6 teachers.
The only reason Calliste is eligible next season is because he did not meet NCAA academic requirements prior to his freshman season at UDM.

That's not so indy. Up has it right. calliste was injured after he was enrolled. his eligibility was denied after he was enrolled.

Isn't Jason on Dean's list? So what's the point of bringing up his HS, the fact is he took the opportynity to come to school here and ran with it. Shouldn't that be what a student basketball player be all about?
