Sorry to see it didn't take at the LCA, and that we didn't take advantage of it. Maybe yet this year.

As a Titan fan and native Detroiter, I am disappointed that we will no longer host the tournament. Objectively speaking, I can't argue with the choice of Indianapolis. I'm not crazy about playing at another school's home court, but that is a suitable facility, and Indy is a great town. I lived there for awhile during the early 90s and it has plenty of lodging and restaurant options, as well as other attractions in the City. It's an easy drive for those of us in the Detroit area who want to go to the games.
Hopefully the Titans will make a nice run here in the final year of the tourney at the LCA. We had a good opportunity over the past few years to make a splash and drum up some local interest, and we didn't take advantage. That is going to sting for awhile.

No final decision on 2020 format, but heard yesterday most likely only the top eight eligible teams will play on-campus quarterfinal games, then on to Indy for the final four.

The fact that there is no word yet on the format for the initial on-campus round(s) makes me think the league is waiting to see what is decided on Detroit Mercy’s appeal of the APR-related NCAA tournament ban.

Accompanying article notes just 4 teams to Indianapolis, with first round(s) on campus.

Accompanying article notes just 4 teams to Indianapolis, with first round(s) on campus. The fact that there would be only four teams to Indy was announced when Indianapolis was selected as the tournament site a few months ago. What hasn’t been announced yet: will there be only eight teams total that are in the tournament, or are all otherwise eligible teams in creating a field of nine or ten (depending on Detroit Mercy’s status).

Wouldn’t we be eligible to compete in the HL tourney regardless of our post season ban? And in the event we won, the runner up would receive the auto bid?

Well, the HL tourney shouldn’t count as post-season IMO. I don’t understand why Milwaukee was excluded from the bracket years ago when they had a ban. Hopefully we will win the appeal and maybe the league thinks those odds are good. If we lose the appeal maybe the league will give the 3 seed a bye and make us stay home. Or maybe they just let us play and dictate that in the event we win the tourney the runner up gets the NCAA bid.
