Before the horizon league conference season began coach Davis stated that he was probably going to go with a 7 man rotation. He even threatened that he wasnt going to take a few guys on the road because they werent giving the proper "effort". I wasnt a big fan of Derrien King or Gerald Blackshear, however, King had played in all thirty games of the season averaging 30 minutes per game. Blackshear also played in all 30 games averaging over 18 minutes per game. Also, coach Davis only played fewer than 9 guys on 5 occasions, and he never played less than 8. During one interview coach Davis also stated that King had the green light and was looked upon to be our third offensive weapon. He also has stated that Blackshear had improved and was a hard worker. I find it strange that neither one of these guys played a minute in what will most likely be the last official game that they will play.

Not only King and Blackshear...but Curry and Holland did not play in final game either. Now I agree that Isiani, Moore and Long played extremely well...but they did run out of gas in the second half.

I remember reading that King didn't play due to injury. The other two guys (Curry and Blackshear) were healthy and Davis decided not to play them

I was very disappointed that King and Blackshear did not play in the last game, mostly because they are seniors who both contributed this year. I'm actually wondering if there was some reason beyond strategy for their lack of action. At any rate, I am grateful for the contributions of all Titans this year and wish them the best going forward.

The decision was surprising, but it should be noted that Blackshear was absolutely dominated by NKU's big men in each of the first two meetings. Curry had some success in the second. In the two regular season games, Blackshear had a total of 4 points and 2 rebounds in 29 minutes, and NKU scored inside pretty much at will. Still, a surprise.
I think it probably hurt that we never got a more set rotation. Outside of the Big 3 of Davis, McFolley, and King, it seemed like a guy would be playing 17 minutes a game, then suddenly disappear for two weeks, then pop up in the starting lineup.
Brandon played double digit minutes in 17 of the first 18 games (9 against Bowling Green), averaging 21.2 minutes. Then he played just 23 minutes total in the next 6 games; then 24, 22, and 17, then just 7 minutes total in the final 4 games.
Moore started the season opener, then played just 6 minutes total in the next 7 games. Then he played 25, 3, DNP, 20, 11, DNP, DNP, DNP, DNP, 17, 12, 24, 5, 28, 34, 14, DNP, then 14 to 37 over the last 7 games.
Holland started 10 games--scattered almost randomly over the year--but had another 10 (also scattered) in which he either did not play, or played less than 5 minutes. Hamrick's minutes also bounced up and down like crazy.
I don't know what all was going on with Coach, the players, etc., but it seemed odd that players would rise and fall in favor. I would guess next season we will see a bit more stability.

No seniors started that game. Not even Josh. Hamrick started in place of Josh.
King's shooting arm was injured in second half of the UIC game when he was knocked to floor on a drive. He was removed from the game and never re-entered. He traveled to NKU and sat with the team on the bench. but he was not in uniform.
When asked about the decision, Coach Davis said that he wanted to try something different. He was trying a line-up he thought would provide more offense from all positions.
