It's interesting to compare ratings systems at the HL season midpoint. NET includes a factor for statistics like KenPom, but it also includes other factors.
NCAA's NET Ranking
113. Wright State
141. Northern Kentucky
237. Oakland
238. Green Bay
244. Youngstown State
252. UIC
282. Milwaukee
287. Detroit
297. Cleveland State
317. IUPUI
While the NET rating encompasses the entire season to date, KenPom puts out numbers for the entire season and the conference only season. KenPom measures the difference in offensive efficiency vs defensive efficiency which is a calculation of how many points per 100 possessions does a team score vs how many points per 100 possessions does a team allow. The difference is either a positive or negative number.
KenPom Full Season
107. Wright State +6.02
127. Northern Kentucky +3.79
228. Green Bay -5.64
229. UIC -5.66
243. Youngstown State -6.57
255. Oakland -7.67
261. Milwaukee -8.09
279. Detroit -9.34
311. Cleveland State -13.02
327. IUPUI -14.46
KenPom Horizon League Games Only
1. Wright State +16.6 (8-1) 5 home and 4 road games
2. Northern Kentucky +9.9 (6-3) 4 home and 5 road games
3. UIC +1.5 (4-5) 4 home and 5 road games
4. Green Bay +1.1 (5-4) 5 home and 4 road games
5. Detroit +1.1 (4-5) 4 home and 5 road games
6. Youngstown State -3.0 (5-4) 4 home and 5 road games
7. Milwaukee -3.9 (5-4) 4 home and 5 road games
8. Cleveland State -4.8 (4-5) 5 home and 4 road games
9. IUPUI -8.5 (2-7) 5 home and 4 road games
10. Oakland -9.7 (2-7) 5 home and 4 road games
So, KenPom's rating does explain the top two and the bottom two teams in the HL, but it does not explain #3-8.
