The ESPN3 feed wasn’t working due to technical difficulties. If you get ESPN in your cable package, I believe ESPN3 should also be available to you at no charge. ESPN+ is a separate subscription, costs about five bucks a month.

Also worth mentioning that if you are an Xfinity internet customer (even without their cable) they will send you a free Flex device (it is like a Roku stick) if you request one. That gives you free access to ESPN3. I’ve found that espn in general is a bit more reliable on my Flex than my Roku.

Until we get the waiver I will be sitting wondering if Vowels remembered to send in the request. I have been trying to watch the women's game on ESPN3 but I am getting the event should start shortly even though it is already at half time. On this one I am wondering if someone at Calihan forgot to throw the broadcast switch. At first I thought they might have forgotten there was a game today but Stats is carrying it. My provider doesn't include ESPN3 in its package but I tried anyway. Also got that "starting shortly" message. I'm guessing that's the default if you're not a subscriber. (Of course, I don't automatically assume someone at the University screwed up.) I assumed that because it seems to be happening more frequently now than in the past. There seems to be a lot less attention to detail and lack of accountability. Then we as a group sit here and have trouble figuring out why some recruits we offer decide to go to programs we perceive to be inferior. I was trying to remember the game last season where we drove almost 8 1/2 hrs. to get to Calihan in bad weather to find the entry doors still locked less than an hour before tip off and ticket sellers and takers standing wondering why no one was coming in to the game. That same evening there was no one attending the entrance on Livernois.

]My provider doesn't include ESPN3 in its package but I tried anyway. Also got that "starting shortly" message. I'm guessing that's the default if you're not a subscriber. (Of course, I don't automatically assume someone at the University screwed up.) I followed the game on STATS. Incredibly slow start by both teams. X jumped to a lead, the Lady Titans almost caught up. Then X pulled away, and the Lady Titans almost caught up again. The Titans won the second period and the fourth, unfortunately got scorched in the first and third. We got killed on the boards, too many steals. Shooting percentages were about even, X just shot a lot more attempts. Lost by eight. The problem was a technical issue at Calihan Hall that the people in charge did not realize was happening until late in the first quarter. By that time, ESPN3 appears to have dropped the feed because nothing was coming through. It's too bad because someone who was there told me that Coach Gilbert appears to have instilled a lot more toughness in this team. According to this person, last year's team would have folded in the middle of the 3rd quarter when Xavier made a big run, but Coach called a time out and they fought back and made it close in the 4th quarter. This is the second major broadcast glitch from Calihan in the past 4-5 weeks. The other one was the second microphone at the virtual event in mid-October. There seems to be a quality control issue here because no one appears to monitor these broadcasts for problems or, more concerning, they don't seem to care that there is a problem. As a fan and consumer of this product, the people in charge of these broadcasts must do a better job. Here's a reply to a Tweet that received no timely answer from us. This is unacceptable customer service because TV is the lifeline for all of our sports until COVID restrictions can be lifted. Here's a family member of one of our players from NY who wanted to see her play and could not because we did not address the technical difficulty. And, then, we didn't even reply to his Tweet. Unacceptable.

My first and last comments on cancellation of Kentucky road trip. This is another overly cautious decision by AD. We have lost an opportunity to play a Top 25 team (Richmond) on a neutral court, a Top 10 team (Kentucky) on their court with no or minimal crowd and a similar team (Morehead St) to us. And the trip is cancelled due to a staff member testing positive with no symptoms. Other schools like Syracuse have HC test positive and he leaves for quarantine while team continues to practice and play. This recent decision, combined with his declaration to not allow fans for the entire season, seems to be at odds with last weeks declaration to return UD to the elite level of national hoops. I, for one, am once again disappointed with AD Vowels.🏀☹️

Seems like that might have taken place on a level above the AD, maybe even taking into consideration things like liability if players get sick after we know a member of the program tested positive. Would be nice if the NCAA had established a universal plan for these situations, but I imagine that is more difficult than it sounds, given the various stays of Covid-19 responses and precautions across the country.

I certainly would not want to be the AD of the team that went to UK and got two or three other teams infected.

Fingers crossed that this turns out to be accurate.

Richmond 76 UK 64. Moderate upset. Sometimes UK stumbles early in year because one-dones lack experience, especially to seasoned mid-major like Richmond.

Perhaps, it was a wise decision not to go to Kentucky and play Richmond. This means there are symptoms.
Local reporter clarifies situation. May not be symptoms.
