Our struggles continue against a very young and inexperienced Oakland team. No way we go in overtime to this team. You can’t tell me this is a player problem. This is coaching!! I can't argue with you on this one. We just beat ourselves playing a team we should have beaten by 20. I have been defending Davis for way to long. Kampe is 15-18 points better than Davis. I got so tired of Cureton talking about how great the big guy runs up and down the floor. Maybe he should run cross country. He wouldn't have to catch a basketball there. Willie really got shorted in this one. Davis did a really bad coaching job in this game. In fact you could use the film of this game to teach how not to coach.

Disappointing to hand OU their first win of the season in what sounds like was a very sloppy game in Calihan. In all honesty, I don't think I'll tune in tomorrow. I hope they get the split at least. Hoping coach can devise a scheme to hold them under 15 offensive rebounds next game. Our best chance for winning tomorrow is if Davis over sleeps and misses the game.

Can't even say "wait until we get Waterman, Koka, and Brandon". Beyond disappointing. I hit "like," but that's not really quite the right emotion.

I said it a few weeks back, but I’ll say again. We look like an AAU team! Our weekend pickup today was Waterman! Any past positive play by others went out the door. What happened to Willy/Rose and Johnson in a weeks time. You’d think after an entire week of practice, we would see some chemistry. Instead we see the same inconsistency from our bench, and not the players!
The system that someone elaborated to in regards to coach Davis is broken. Bringing in an entirely new group of players every year is and will not work here! Let’s get a foundation, and build a program. Any young kid who would like to play D1 basketball here at Detroit is deterred after watching a couple weekends of our games. Everyone gets another year per NCAA Covid-19 but our guys on the bench will get absolutely nothing out of the year but practicing and rebounding in warmups.

We were outhustled for every contested rebound and for every loose ball. We remain winless on our home court. There is no excuse for being outhustled. Yet, we had the shot to win it in regulation and Fraser missed the 10 footer. I can handle the loss; but I cannot accept being outhustled and I trust that our players will not accept that effort either.

FYI, I recall that the Titans offered a scholarship to Micah Parrish during his senior year in high school. He had 18 points and the game winning shot tonight for Oakland.

Will be interesting to see the adjustments for the next time we lose to OU later today.
- we made a conscious decision to not lose by the 3 (well at least by Williams), and as a result we were exposed to offensive boards which ou took great advantage of
- on offense, we sorta played into their defensive hands. I can’t remember a time seeing a team NOT flash or put a guy at the foul line when facing a zone. We didn’t put anyone there all game, and that basically did a ton of ou’s job. Johnson should be there, as a reliable passer and shooter plus with some height. That would quickly break the zone down and get past the ou first 4 guys who were playing so high up.
- our inability to take on a zone is perplexing considering we’ve spent 2 years under coach Davis playing zone d ourselves, thus we aren’t strangers to it - how it works, it’s weaknesses etc. Yet here we are where OUs zone bogged us down, and on the flip side our zone d was terribly exposed. Hmmm. Advantage coach kampe.
- I’m fine with AD not scoring 30 and shooting a jillion times, but if we are dedicated to having him facilitate the offense well then we have to figure out how to have him facilitate. It’s safe to say we haven’t gotten the max performance from AD in most games this season, and that’s different than his poor shooting. This is on coaching to find the optimal use for AD within this team.
- the introduction of waterman did cause some growing pains with the line up. We were grasping all afternoon to find the group that jelled the most together. Fraser, Brandon and Willy never got going, and Johnson didn’t assert himself til really late in the game. Boka seemed to get the minutes of Willy and Brandon.
- Kuol is excellent. Let’s enjoy having him as a Titan.

I was thinking the same thing about our offense against the zone, except Waterman seemed like the perfect high post guy to me.

I was thinking the same thing about our offense against the zone, except Waterman seemed like the perfect high post guy to me. In the second half, we did try to get Waterman involved on a curl play off the high post but his legs got tired and coach played him sparingly after that (According to Davis postgame comment on Titan website.) We'll see what we respond with this afternoon. We were outhustled for loose balls and rebounds. Many of our guys just stood and reached while they moved their feet. I will be extremely disappointed if I see that same lack of effort today. That's not what should be expected from a veteran team - even one that is integrating new players into the real game rotation.

Lets hope for a better outcome today. Coach mentioned hitting the boards in his postgame interview. Making better passes to our new big, but nothing in regards to adjusting on Defense. Our Zone hurt them early but they adjusted. Mix it up, throw them off. Any good coach makes adjustments, and Oakland did and we didn’t.
Another assessment from his post game interview, when asked about the good play of Kuol, he literally dismissed the positive acknowledgment, that’s pretty consistent of his past years interviews when any play besides AD has a good game win or loose. I’m trying not to be so critical, but it’s hard because the obvious is taking place. Our media didn’t mention AD in the postgame, which is good. Hopefully coach pays attention to that and coaches the team and not just AD. Kuol is our best player, and AD needs to become a PG who controls the flow of the game and not only look for his own shot. He passes the ball only when his shot opportunity is not good. He becomes a even bigger threat to teams because he’s capable of catching fire.
Oh well enough of that, let’s play team ball and hope that coach Davis makes in game changes. If that happens we win easily because we are way more talented as a team. Let’s go Titans!

If that last shot in regulation from Fraser had fallen, I'd be feeling better about the game, but the issues would still be there. Too many turnovers, beaten on the boards, another poor shooting game from AD, etc, etc.
On the plus side, Kuol played well, and has exceeded my expectations so far. It was good to see Waterman make his debut, and he had his moments. Koka didn't score much, and didn't shoot well with his limited shot attempts, but in his 26 minutes he had 8 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and as assist. I'll take that for a guy who is still getting acclimated to the system and his teammates.
I'm torn on Waterman. He showed some positive things, and Coach loves him, but he's 6-11 and had three rebounds and no blocks in 23 minutes in a game we got killed on the glass and gave up a ton of interior points. I know they do this gimmicky thing of listing Waterman as a guard, but if his game is going to give us an average guard impact, I'd rather just have Brandon get the bulk of those minutes and leave the guard play to Fraser, Johnson, Rose, etc. Of course, it's early. I'm not passing judgement on him either way.
Shame about Thompson. Whatever is going on, I hope things are going well for him outside of basketball.
Hopefully we see a win today. Yesterday was embarrassing.
