Detroit News’ Tony Paul tweets: “One obvious name to watch for the Bowling Green women’s hoops opening now that Robyn Fralick is off to MSU: Detroit Mercy’s Kate Achter. She did an amazing turnaround at Loyola Chicago, and got Detroit Mercy on the right track this past year. BGSU is home for her.”

I think Atcher is doing a decent job with the Titans so far, but she was fired at her previous job and won five games last year. I would think Bowling Green has options that look better on paper.

If you want to tarnish your reputation at your alma mater, go back and coach there.

I think BG hiring Coach Achter would be like Detroit Mercy hiring Willie Green.

I think BG hiring Coach Achter would be like Detroit Mercy hiring Willie Green. Only if New Orleans only won 13 games this season. (They're 40-38.)

That is one way to look at it. I prefer to think we won 5x as many games as the previous season including 3x as many in the league. Meanwhile, Loyola lost 12 more games than her last season and went 1-15 in their league. I think Loyola may have some buyer's remorse. They were in as bad of shape as we were when she took the Loyola job and she led them to respectability and winning record. I think firing her was one of many bad decisions that were made during COVID by some athletic departments. No one could understand why she was let go. I hope that Bowling Green stays away. It would be one of the few jobs that would attract her at this point in her career. She would have to seriously consider it.

Chuck, you're right, that is another way to look at it, and it's why I am comfortable and optimistic about keeping her around as a Titan coach. I don't think it is a strong case for someone to present as good reasons for Bowling Green to hire her, considering they would likely get a lot of candidates for the job. In any case, the Falcons went in another direction, which is good for the Lady Titans. I look forward to the coming season.
