When I grew up in ancient time, we had this epic party store around the corner. It was run by this skinny guy with glasses who could talk but everyone like him. The store was the talk of the town and you could pretty much get anything you need, including odd things that the other stores didn’t have. Dicky was his name. Later, as bigger stores moved in, Dicky left for Costco but a nice well dressed man took over. Werry was him name. Werry made the U Do Party Store cool again. He brought in some hard workers who made sure the JoJos and Pizza Slices were top notch. Over Time Werry retired to enjoy fishing and the U Do store has never been the same. To make matters worse, a short while back, another party store opened across the street, where the macaroni place used to be. It’s called the Oaks. The Oaks is run by a guy named Curly. Curly seems like a creepy guy who eats all the profits but the creep can sell. When people would drive through town, more started going to the Oaks instead of U Do. Over time, U Do started to get run down. In an effort to revive the party store, the owners hired a tall man called Mikey. They said Mikey used to run a big fireworks store in Indiana. Mikey brought his very pretty niece to work the register and U of Do Party Store was the talk again. Everyone though that U Do would crush the Oaks but Mikey started swearing a lot and never got his niece much help so the Oaks Party Store kept crushing it. Now, if you walk into the U of Do, it’s smelly and there isn’t much in stock. Hell, they even stoped selling pizza so pretty much everyone goes across the street to buy macaroni from Curly. Things have gotten so sad that I don’t visit like I used to. The truth is, people started moving into town and reviving old homes and they need their darling U Do back.
They now say there is a new owner. His name is Prez. He’s a distinguished gentleman who apparently sees and reads everything. He has something they call Karizma. Now sure what that is but it sure sounds great. I have a feeling Prez is gonna tell Mikey to pack it and is going to hire another Dicky or Werry and the U Do will be revived again.
U Do will be back, and I’m a belieber. Sometimes, it takes a man no one knows, to bring back the noise.
Yours Truly, the Lurk

Hey Scout! You know what they say? That you find inspiration in stange Places. Hopefully Prez is listening…

Further investigative reporting disclosed that the main problem at the party store was that the managers didn't think it was important to fix the roof when it started leaking two decades ago. Or update the landscaping outside and around the parking lot. When the ceiling tile fell down, they never replaced it until some loyal customers complained. The owners hired a general manager whose experience was with the agencies that regulated the store rather than a manager who had actual experience running a store. The owners thought that they could do nothing and trade on the store's past epic times even 50 years later. So, they stopped advertising and promoting their store even though competition against them grew. They never updated the decor on their walls or updated their stock to meet the new needs of their customers. In some areas of the store, the wall decor and products on the shelves made it seem that time had stopped in 2012. In fact, they stopped viewing their customers as customers and viewed some of them nuisances and pests. They focused solely on their profit and loss and never invested in any improvements in the store to attract more customers. Then, they changed the name of the store from UDo to UDoM because they thought that getting more purchases from a certain 10% of their customer base was more important than the other 90% of their loyal customers. Some started calling the store "UDoNt." So, even the pretty niece working the cash register was no longer enough to attract the same number of customers that used to buy stuff from the store 6-7 years ago. And the new name caused even more customers to think that the store had been sold to new owners; so, they stopped coming there. The new Prez claims that a better store is important for improving the whole community in which the store is located. Hopefully, the loyal customers will soon learn more about what those words mean.

Sorry to say it, but Mikey's inaction at the store the past few months (for a high rate of pay) - he seems to care only about his family - and his failure to turn a profit/finish above even, even though he initially said he would do it in only a few months, has this loyal patron looking elsewhere

They are providing an excuse for the owners to continue with the same poor decisions. The owners must provide any manager with a competitive product to attract the best helpers in the store as well as to attract former customers back and new customers to the store. A new manager can only paper over the store's deficiencies for a short period of time.

Just sitting and collecting a huge salary, while not doing the basics (like stocking the shelves with product and setting a schedule) makes many patrons think the store is closed. Other stores have well stocked shelves and a schedule of workers at least partially set. The manager can only control what he can control - and it's those responsibilities he's failing at. The owners - now that's a completely different type of incompetence
